I've got several rice colonizing now all without contamination and I do the same thing. If I leave the SAB I usually bump it coming back by accident, I move slowly and apply isopropyl alcohol to the same gloves. I try to not touch anything like food or drinking cup. I'll leave just to throw something large away and out of the way or get something I forgot somewhere else. I also have all fans off, all windows closed, and all doors closed. I don't dust a rug either.

I'd bet you could dry them just fine using oven jerky tek lol. If you put them on a cookie sheet or screen, set your oven at it's lowest (mine in 170) setting use top rack and prop the door open with a wooden spoon handle(to keep the temp down and let moisture out), you can dry jerky in a few hours. Works better w/gas but electric works too. Never tried it on .

How long do mushrooms last in the fridge when shop bought? Id say a week before they were getting a tiny bit funky and maybe 2 before you couldnt dry them.

Timing is everything, I basically combine the soak for second flush and the bottom water, adding ~500 ml to a sub that Iโm about to remove 1300 g of wet mushrooms from in hours. Approx 1180 g water weight leaving the sub and that watering almost seems like not enough. If there is still standing water after a couple hours it gets poured off, or if it all get soaked up I add another ~100ml.
Its not really an extra step it just stacks an extra function into a step most already do. I still give a heavy mist but thats only like 50-75 ml more water. And with second flushes I usually end up misting 2-3 times To upkeep surface conditions otherwise its all side and bottom pins.

Its all about paying attention to your conditions and knowing your cultures, and your material, all coir is different and we live in different climates, our lifestyles are different etc etc, this technique is something Iโve developed that works great for me, I dont recommend everyone go out and start bottom watering, but I like it alot, especially for the mutant varieties I mostly grow, And for whatever reason it helps me to have less blotch on my fruits
And for clarity sake I wouldnt consider my coir โdryโ, just a litte shy of โfield capacityโ as defined by a few drops to a stream. For my conditions it tends to work out better if you can barely squeeze a drop from it.

I dont ever do LC's though so some intricacies may have been left out. you can go as low on the nutes as you want really, people have had success with a literaly DROP of honey to a pint.

I did 2 in the end but moved the decimal point to get 2% instead of 0.2% I use honey and LMEA
Oh another topic when you shake your millet jar is it best to here the grains ping a little? I notice a few were burst but the jars shook easily.

2 percent of 1000 (1 liter, little more than a qt) would be 20g no? either way, just go very low. You dont need much at all

Also how full do you like you jars. With both Foomans and no soak the end result is the fullest jar I have ever worked with.

Sorry Ed I meant to answer that...
Yes. If there is uncolonized grain it will make a clinking sound. Thereโs shouldnโt be so many burst grains that it doesnโt shake like that.
Also, Iโm done doing prepless jars. I cook the millet until I have at least 20 burst grains in the pot, and do a bite check. Then I load them with at least 2 inches of empty air. Itโs better to have them less full and fill them with spawn than to not be able to shake after g2g.

Why are you done with no soak? Ive dialled it in now so its hard to tell them apart but curious as to see why?

Because Iโm up to 2 cases of jars at a time and i use polyfil lids so setting them on their side is a no go. And honestly itโs easier for me to just do grain+water+boil=jars

Most of it. Millet for a lot of the expansion and then spawning and fruiting on oat

Agar to millet, to 12 oat+millet, fruit 10, 2 expanded to either millet or oat depending on iff ill be expanding them further (usually thinking months ahead if its a good culture) or fruiting those (if im finding a new culture or reverting to spore)

Oat plus millet? Then you test and if its good expand to millet and oats for further expansion or just grow the last jars out?
The new flow hood has upped my game and now everything I try works so I have a shit load of stuff going on.
