That thing looks ready to birth! Doesnt really look like it needs much misting. And why just the corners? When I do mist I give a couple quick sprays at a distance so to evenly cover the whole tub/sub. Not just the sides like ive heard some say.
Only zoomed on the 2nd pic. The first tub could use a spritz IMO

I hydrated a shoebox and it barely expanded if it even did, which leaves me wondering wether or not it took some water or not
I've seen a number of people wondering about this lately. So, let's think about it logically. Does the sub lose a bunch of water during the fruiting. For sure, some evaporates away and a ton goes into the fruits. If your first flush pulls, let's say, for the sake of easy math... 1000 grams and it dries to 90% wet weight, you just took 900 grams of water from the sub. That's all fine and dandy and that water can be added back by dunking or bottom watering... But, what about the 100 grams of mycelial matter that literally came up from the tub and was removed (in the form o fruits)? That's gone and not coming back. Ipso facto, the sub must needs be smaller now... Because it has less mass. This, cuppled with the myc "hugging" the sub equals shrinking sub as time goes on.

i.e. decomposition. The forest floor doesn't turn to dirt just 'cause. And it doesn't just turn to dirt. Lucky us.

Well the surfaces of the corners are much drier looking than the middle, which is expected I think, because that’s where the most FAE is coming from in Unmodified tubs.

I had that problem with unmodded tubs. The edges wud dry and the rest of the surface got insufficiant FAE. I try as best i can to set things up so that i only mist after the first flush. Sub seems to have a difficult time making little droplets on the surface in subsiquent flushes for some reason.
Must say im pretty happy today. Out of all the sterile work ive done since i started having serious contam issues, 4 plates and 3 jars have gone south on me. About 10%. Not that 10% contamination rate is anything to brag about, seeing as how i had a 3% contam rate b4 i changed my SAB setup. But i feel a bit better. Can relax a bit. Not checking my plates and jars twice a day.
Interesting to watch 4 different varieties colonize millet of 4 different prep methods. Last batch i soaked overnight then simmered it. Came out nice.

I has a grow going on right now

I see nor smell no tams and I see a large amount of pins on the sides if the bag, they havent much room to grow as a result.. should I put them in a box?
I dont know what to do this is first time so many have grown on the sides in a bag for me.

That's a little late to change containers. Why not just open the bag a little or poke a few holes in it for some FAE?

how does this look for 6 days? this is when I normally break them up and they will be colonized by day 11 or 12. is this a little slow?. each gallon of grain was inoculated with at least 150 ml of thick lc...

I might add some take 14+ days... I think it depends on the strength og the lc and how much I exactly pour per bag.

Im not discrediting Quirk here, but to me them appear to be suffering from insuffiant FAE. If it were me i wud increase fresh air exchange to some degree. And stop misting for now.

Also just realized I'm only doing about 130 ml per bag but sometimes go up to 200+

Hey i gotta couple questions for the big strappers.
How long from spawn does APE generally take to pin?
Can mycogone and acremonium blend with cube myc?
If so, can these molds be detected once they blend with myc?
Are there any other contaminations which blend with cube myc?

I used to rinse them off Ed, then put it in the jar and cover with just enough water to just cover the seed and half a teaspoon gypsum and pc for 90 mins. The water in the jar would be absorbed into the grain, just make sure you shake it up good to distribute the moisture.
It’s been a while since I’ve had anything on grain but I seem to remember it worked well and very easy/quick way of prepping the millet avoiding a soak.
Think it’s this one
