Gan said: On the topic of picking pins after flush. For these two shoeboxes, should I just bottom water and throw the lid back on? There's a good bit of pins. I followed Sharper's shoebox tek, which calls for dunking after harvest. But I'm assuming that would be a waste with so many potential pins even after harvesting.
Dunking and bottom watering are basically the same things, done two different ways.
I don't personally see any advantage to dunking vs bottom water. If you decide to bottom water, just pour some water down the side/corner and let the sub soak it up, then pour off any excess.
But also, be sure that your sub actually needs it. If your sub is dry, it should be pretty light when you pick the shoebox up
You look like you have a good bit of pins going there, and it may just be because you're misting but it looks like you might not even need to rehydrate yet

Hi all, received a Pan trop syrimge as a freebie. Zero experince with both pans and also casing and not much experience in cult in general.
With all that said, does this look like the right time to case this tray?

Thanks for any help. Peace

Anyone ever have spawn that sent aerial myc out of itself? Should I assume these are fairly bacterial? Or maybe its normal with certain cultures….

When I had plates and jars with the mycelium "finger" type growth it seemed to be bacterial issues
FWIW they still fruited for me in shoeboxes but, some contaminated midway through first flush. Some of the jars pumped out multiple flushes, maybe just differing levels of bacterial growth

Yeah, the sooner ubspawn em the better. Once u shake them they might recover on coir but the jar might not recover if u just let it sit after the shake.

I had jars look similar to that recently. They fruited.
I'd shake it see what happens

Soo... i have a question. I know spawn will tend to shrink as the flushes go. But, should hydrating it make it expand again?
I hydrated a shoebox and it barely expanded if it even did, which leaves me wondering wether or not it took some water or not
-------------------- How would you rate the quality of my answer?

Sankhara, They won't expand. Just get heavier.

Thanks folks for the help. I figure they are bacterial, but shook them. They broke up really easy. Will post the recovery photos.

No the sub doesn't really expand after re-hydrating after first flush, its restricts itself due to mycelium shrinking the sub, essentially the myc is hugging the sub

AA+ spawned 10/11, unbodified tub, just coir
Argentina, spawned 10/14, unbodified tub, just coir
Zoomed in pictures are of the middle of the tub
How’s it looking? Should I start misting the corners...?
