I'll take your word it's cling and not mold. Those wedges are pretty small for A2G, too. I feel like it's obvious the plates are just fucked and it's not your technique or utensils. Can you not start new plates with those species/varieties? I'd just pitch 'em, bro.

No offense, but those pictures are pretty shitty so it's hard to tell. What kind of dishes are they and how are you snapping pics?

stareatclouds said: Definitely take better pictures of your plates. When bacteria is often hidden, you don't want shadows from your camera obstructing the growth. You can angle plate in front of a light and snap clear pictures. Or if they're laid flat like you've done, make sure they're lit up better. Here's some examples:

It's possible your phone sucks or something is out of your control. I dig it. Don't think I'm trying to be a dick or anything. But clarity is important when spotting iffy spots. :-.
Anywho, B I would definitely transfer as I don't like the non-uniform growth. Is that where you cooled your blade? C looks best, IMO.

When I first started I just drilled a tiny hole in the top of the lid, big enough for the camera lens on my phone. Then a tiny piece of tape over it when I'm not using it. Worked perfect.

Why do people use verm mixed with coir for a substrate instead of straight coir?
I've used coir only from the beginning, so wondering what the advantage is.

Sometimes people use it to adjust the water content of overhydrated coir, as an additive. Some people like the consistency better. I don't bother with it much myself.

It's all personal preference, both work good. I love coir/verm most, I find it gives me more consistently awesome flushes and coir-only tubs would sometimes come out too wet despite squeezing the sub to field capacity. Maybe try it out and see what you like more?

Verm is cheaper that coir. It's handy for adjusting field cap. I learned that way.

not where I live. verm is way more expensive.
it is supposed to hold more water than coir so in theory u can get more water in ur sub without over saturating it.

Verm gives a great texture and trace minerals and wicks moisture. Ask yourself...why do of cakes have the highest b.e.? Coir manure coffee sawdust peat has all been tried as a replacement but verm did better in every instance

Depends on where you're looking for it also. Verm is expensive at home improvement stores, but I went to a local garden nursery and bought a huge ass bag that barely fit in my car for something like $15. I can't remember because it was so long ago and I still haven't used it all.
I think I'll start using it in my subs instead of just coir

is it the verm more the brf that gives the high BE?
found this on fanaticus' site while searching the definition of BE: Many years ago, PF grew cubies on many substrates and found brown rice to be the best grain for fruiting. The problems associated with using brown rice was that it was sticky when cooked up and unshakeable in quart style spawn jars. This creates many problems which thwarts the fruiting power of brown rice. In 1978, Dr Stephen Pollock published his book "Magic Mushroom Cultivation" and it featured a brown rice cake method using quart jars and growing the shrooms inside the jar. This tek has many flaws but had great potential.
@pixel popper: its super taxed where I live those same bigass bags cost me 45-50$
