definitely bigger than that.
saw some regulars say they use the 1x2 with bags on their side but I tried a while back and it was a mess to say the least.
Even with my 2x2 I felt cramped and paranoid of the air above getting mixed with the flow as the bags I had were super tall.
2x2 should work fine for most people and most bags, I'm just a little high maintenance. I would still be using it if I hadn't dropped it on the corner of my dyhydrator during a move.
I do feel if you going to put the funds and time to make one or buy one then you should get the largest for your cost and space potential...
Seen some people recently withe 2x4 and 4x4 that made me start dreamin

is a flowhood necessary to work with spawn bags? wouldn't it be easier and cheaper just to get a bigger SAB that's tall enough to handle the bags?

You could probably get by if you're only doing a couple bags. I'm starting a mushroom farm though, going to have a shitload of spawn bags being made all the time. I decided I'm just going balls to the wall and buying this one: http://www.fungi.com/product-detail/product/the-series-iv-laminar-flow-hood.html

Damn that thing is very nice.
Seems like you could put one together for half the price though.

what about using bags without a flowhood by injecting liquid inoculant through the filter, then taping over it with micropore?
i realize a flowhood is very valuable for a commercial farm but for the avg cultivator would this method work?

That's how I use bags. I inject through the bag not the filter but same basic idea.

When I used an SAB I would to pour LI and G2G with bags, no big deal:shrug The real issue with not having a hood for bags is not getting a plenum of HEPA air in the bags.

The question is whether or not an isolate that performs well on CVG will see a drop-off in performance on hpoo. Should be interesting to see

Correct. So far this is the case with 3 totes that were spawned on the 19th of November.

My 3 way clone test earlier this year resulted in bigger yields for coir/verm over coir/hpoo/verm/worm castings. I suspected at the time and still do that the water capacity was the difference maker.
Liloldme do you use verm or straw with your hpoo?
