i didn't do much LI testing before i gave up on it and started going with LC. I gave up because i wasn't enjoying the recovery time. I think it has to do with how much you blend the myc though. I'm no expert on LI at all.

When you have a fully grown, clean, LC, how long do you usually wait to see full jar colonization?

Same same, it wasnt as quick as I thought it would be where sometimes it never happened at all. I mean I must of killed it!

Sorry to come at yall with a question, but how do you reduce sediment, or does it even matter? I have tried at least 6 different ratios of malt to water and different times and it keeps carmelizing, at least i think that's whats happening. My agar always get burnt bits of malt during the cycle too and ive dropped my time on that to 10 minutes with a 10 minute vent.
Minimal black bits doesnt affect my agar growth, but the LC's keep coming out looking like it has sand in it. Will this affect the quality? I'm just now getting around to trying it out, it's a little impractical for me at the moment but if i could get a hang of it i could probably make it work for me.

Problem with this way is you can get something piggy backing in there and it could take 10 days to find out.
1 drop on agar gives you all the answers, speed of growth, cleanliness, type of growth. You can even use the plate for something.

Never done no LC, but i get malt sediment in plates above 1g malt to 100ml water.

First post ever, forgive the lack of knowledge on my part I.E. terminology etc. I have looked throughout this forum and others in recent months an finally took the plunge into growing PC on my own for the first time. I need either some layman's advice moving forward, or scrutiny on my methods so I can correct as needed. The items are on there way so I cannot deviate from described parameters too much. Please and thank you. I am going with the following methods: items Translucent monotub, polyfill, pre-manufactured rye bag sub, pre-manufactured plant based bulk sub, pro sourced PC A++ spore syringe, no casing used. temp, and light conditions are controlled in a "grow room". And this is all under "as sterile as I can possibly get it" conditions. steps Sterilize EVERYTHING Syringe 5cc +/- 1cc into bags Allow colonization in dark @ 76 deg. F Mix mycelium in bags as needed to increase colonization speed. Once 100% colonized, mix into bulk sub. Allow colonization of bulk sub Introduce fruiting conditions (lower temp to 68-72 with 12 hour light cycle, fan or mist tub based on mycelium state) Continue process until the pins fruit to maturity and harvest. Soak tub, remove aborts, drain, repeat fruiting cycle.
Does this all sound right? I look around these forums and some of the advice is beyond my level of knowledge or understanding. These steps are literally a quick summary of bits and pieces I have learned here by decrypting various conversations. I don't plan on doing this a lot, maybe once every couple of years so I'm not worried about keeping cultures or prints.
Thanks.

Make a still air box. Do agar work (wash, rinse, repeat). If you intend to 'sterilize EVERYTHING', that means you will need a pressure cooker, so buy/prep your own grain. Buy/prep coconut coir. Jars are more beginner-friendly. Colonize in light. Shake/mix your grains once at 30% colonization. Use the same conditions for spawn run and fruiting.

Making the leap to agar instead of going straight spores to bags would be more ideal but as long as the syringe you purchase is relatively clean spores to grain can work as long as you are willing to accept that there will be losses. Spores are hard to produce in a sterile environment so spores are likely to have some small amount of contamination no matter what, the less spores you use the better since it also allows for less of the possible contaminants per inoculation. IMO getting a small PC and making your own grain jars would be the “in between” solution. More baskets with less eggs, if you catch my drift. 1/4cc has all the spores you really need, more can be used and may speed things up but also increases your odds of failure. I’d say 1-2cc’s per bag, 1/4-1cc per jar is a pretty reasonable rate. And know that if the syringe is dirty, all if your time/hard work/$ may be wasted whereas if you use agar or even a brf paste to germinate your spores you can be assured there is clean growth before expanding to bulk media.

Then my advice to you wud be to pick up a syringe when you wanna have a go at it, learn to do cakes, stick em in a sgfc and BAM...shrooms.

Hey I think I made the jello mix too stiff with agar it's kind of rubbery but more of a crumble chewy then a gooey chew ?
Is it going to get worse through the cure ?

I took like 12 zips of boomers and boiled them down for a few hours . Then just poured some jello mix in and set them in molds stuck in the fridge for 10 minutes then back on a tray to dry more
You think 2 days fridge cure will suffice ?
