I need to trip. I've just been doing acid every 6 months or so, quit drinking. I think it's time to take a trip down psilocybin lane
Ok this is a repeat tip but seriously shoeboxers...do it
Dishwashers are awesome for shoeboxes. I'm considering using shoeboxes for all of my grow cause I'm lazy and hate cleaning large tubs. Has anyone here moved from monotubs to shoeboxes exclusively? They fit on shelves great too...
Canadians - dollar tree has perfect shoeboxes for $1 each they're only like 5 litres but they are the best you can get in canada for $1 seriously buy some.
dollar tree shoe box

Holy shit. I just came back from a 4 year hiatus to begin growing again....after doing acid on and off for the last 3 months and quitting drinking.
Going to be aiming for some stones to start things off for simplicity's sake.

Ok ya'll I'm ready to move up into crazier parts of mycology... what's the cheapest microscope I could buy that will easily view spores? I don't know shit about microscopes.

I started bulk with monotubs. After a few months of them I moved over to shoeboxes to fuck around. A year later I tried to go back to larger bulk, but I just can't justify it. I can get the same yield from 4 shoeboxes as I get from 1 monotub and they take up less space? And I can work using more varieties? Yeah, I keep going back to shoeboxes and need to accept that this is my life now.

I use my monos very rarely, I pretty much go with only shoeboxes, but I love my bootboxes too.

I really don't understand the complaints about pouring agar I find it to be pretty simple, honestly. I enjoy the process, and it's one of the only things I can do in mycology that doesn't take multiple days worth of steps.
Also, tweeq gets some insane netherlands crack of a deal for agar plates. I'd debate on it at the costs he get's them.

Yeah that's all i was going to say, that it probably isnt worth the price, but idk shit about the netherlands and their values on seaweed powder and plates

It's been discussed and IIRC it's about $0.60. I'd stick to pouring personally.

I'm happy with them for that price. Mind that I only got into the hobby last february and I'm at dish # 200 - 220-ish So I've paid like 120 to 140 euros total for all my dishes to date. And zero hours of work.
If I ever scale up I might reconsider.

Hell yeah if youve only used 200 in that time you're good, especially if you havent noticed the cost. I usually use a sleeve per tub with clones, cleaning, germing spores from desirable fruits type shit so just different strokes.
I was completely confused and thought this was potd

I think i'm in the same boat but i'm not sure yet. You can buy 9-10 shoeboxes for the price of one 54qt monotub, 4 shoeboxes yield about the same as one monotub, and take up about the same amount of room, shoeboxes can stack easier than unmodded tubs but you eventually have to unstack em. Cost per yield, shoeboxes smoke monos (10 shoeboxes vs one mono).
In my mind, it really boils down to how much yield you want. If you aren't concerned with big yields and want to experiment with varieties/teks; shoeboxes. If you want big yields all at once; monos. I think i will gene hunt with shoeboxes, then put my clones into monos

Really? I've found my yeilds similar across both methods. I aim for 350g wet for the first flush per myco-quart. I get that using shoeboxes or monos. Four shoeboxes seem to take up a bit less room than a 66qt monotub too. The only benefit seems to be that 1 mono clean up much faster than 4 shoeboxes

I used to cite that more frequently when I was more concerned about contamination. I have a much better grasp on that now and forget to include that, but yes, that was why I initially started going for shoeboxes. I was tired of contaminating a full mono from 1/4-1/5 of the jars being kinda ugly looking.
But yes! This is a great things for people still concerned about contamination in their spawn

I'm not sold on one versus the other yet. I like them both! I've only done 3 mildly successful monos (avg ~200g/qt), 3 failed monos, 6 poorly successful shoes (avg ~100g/qt), and 3 possibly failed shoes. So i'm still a rookie, but i'm getting better! I know my shoes were way too wet, but the next round i'm hoping to be closer to your 350g/qt average. Your tek gave me a target/baseline

I'll use them once in a while for experimentation but as it turns out i do not prefer shoeboxes at all. They feel like extra needy little hassles. Unless im running this PE culture im dicking with in them. This PE dnt give a shit! Pumps no matter what.
Hey check out this jazz i got to drain millet:
Cudnt find a normal strainer so i stopped by the local shit shack and found this thing that old tarts put potpourri in to cover up the stench of their worthlessness and hot farts. Works pretty good. Thers a pc load right there.
