To be fair, I never said I hate pouring plates, I said I hate making them, i.e., weighing out and mixing agar, heating it, pouring into Pasty's, wrapping them in foil, etc. I actually really enjoy pouring dishes. Only thing I dislike is timing the heat just right. I wish I had a sous vide for that. But whatever.

I'd be buying used. It's just a thought, it's pretty unlikely that i buy something like that. I really want to build one, and i know it's not hard, but cutting wood and wiring are things im not familiar with. It'll get done either way, just was sparking conversation cuz im bored lol

Also i dont think so, in professional application they are installed in the ceiling, most hoods (chemical and smoke) are standalone, as are flow hoods.
Home depot will cut all your wood for you for free. Just take accurate measurements (dont forget width of your plywood) and have them cut a 4'x8' into your 5 sides. Trim and shit is easy to cut

Good looks on the Home Depot information. I need to make another shelf in my grow closet and that'd help a lot since I don't have tools.
Think I might make a write up about SAB work and how environment doesn't matter whatsoever as long as your technique is solid. I know that experienced growers already know this but I feel like I see a fair amount of posts by newer growers where they don't really understand you can use a sab anywhere, in a barn, next to a litterbox, etc as long as the air is still.

That's because you do it in a SAB. Pouring dishes in a SAB makes me want to slap grandmas, hard. In the flow I just kick it in my comfy pants, drink a beer, listen to some project 86 or pink floyd and pour some dishes. I rather enjoy it actually. Poured 50 last night.
Yup, i usually pour 60-120 and I always drink a beer. Lately ive been keeping my 6pak in front of my 2nd hood for safe keeping. Lol

If you hate pouring plates in a SAB, the novelty of a FH will probably wear off and you'll hate that too. I built a FH mostly for bags, was hard to have good form in a SAB, but I love every second of every process and feel lucky to even be able to grow, not everyone can. Every one is different though, just my opinion.
