I'd be buying used. It's just a thought, it's pretty unlikely that i buy something like that. I really want to build one, and i know it's not hard, but cutting wood and wiring are things im not familiar with. It'll get done either way, just was sparking conversation cuz im bored lol

Also i dont think so, in professional application they are installed in the ceiling, most hoods (chemical and smoke) are standalone, as are flow hoods.

That's because you do it in a SAB. Pouring dishes in a SAB makes me want to slap grandmas, hard. In the flow I just kick it in my comfy pants, drink a beer, listen to some project 86 or pink floyd and pour some dishes. I rather enjoy it actually. Poured 50 last night.
Hilarious!!! I was just saying how I sometimes leave the donor plate lid off for 5 minutes while I go and get a beer knowing it will be fine. Love agar work now. Before it used to stress me out being stuck in that box.
Fuck, you guys make me jealous with the flow hood talk. Pouring in a SAB is a pain, mostly...but the real PITA are G2G transfers. (I guess I need a taller SAB but still, fuck SAB work.)

Jbgtaa, I tried to order one used, but ended up refunded. The catch to a used one is it may need a new filter and pr have other problems.
Cthulhu23, Since I got my 200qt SAB I haven't had any real complaints.

Im not talking about professional application. Im talking about all these hobbiests who build their own hood with a fan, box and filter.

I need a bigger SAB. I go to Walmart and ask myself if I need anything for my hobby. I never fuckin think about a bigger SAB. Can I do anything with the old one? Duct tape the holes and turn it into the ugliest mono ever?

you could absolutely tape it up and grow out of it. But, a new tub isn't really a bank breaker.

The more I read how ppl complain about having to pour plates the happier I am with my choice of using pre poured industrial quality dishes, that are delivered to my front door.. Probably also the reason why I still love my sab and see no need to get a hood.

My street is nothing but old people that keep every light off. Nobody comes down my street. My wife will kill me if I bring in a giant ass 200 quart tub. Doesn't mean I'm not gonna do it though 😆😆

I like cutting transfers because every time I do it I'm more and more precise with my blade.
It's like a contest with myself to see how small and perfect I can make each cut.
