Thanks for the feedback everyone. Gonna wrap in the SAB and store in the fridge. The premade ones I bought said they are viable up to a month in the fridge. That being said it also mentioned keeping the dishes in the dark. I find myself enjoying this hobby too much to wait even a few days so it probably won't make much of a difference.

Wrap them and keep them in a container, extra shoebox or something. I usually keep my pasty plates on the kitchen counter and snag then as I need them

I need that to "debug" something in my grow process. I have the suspicion, that one piece lids commonly available here in Europe are only usable a few times before starting to leak liquid or let mold spores in.
Are these jars in question wide mount pints? I'm not at my grow location right now, else I'd just measure the oster attachment out and compare that to mason jar sizes...
Hey man, I'm in the Netherlands and we have the same one piece lids over here too. They have worked great for me so far. Just make sure before and after sterilizing that they are still well closed. I usually drill a eight mm hole in the middle of the lid, stuff with poly and tape that over with micropore tape both top and bottom side of the lid. Like that you can use them a bunch of times without having to re modify or whatever. The lids themselves stay goid for a long time. Haven't had any wear out yet.

"7. After the time is up leave the lid on, remove from heat and let cool overnight."
Is this advice 'best practice'
I read one other person say to let jars cool, and remove from pot as soon as they are room temprature.
Because letting them sit overnight, after they are room temp/cool, can allow contamination due to being in a humid environment.

I pour my plates in an SAB and then put the sleeve back on it to store them in a clean 16 shoebox. I just carefully roll it up as I uncover the stack and then wedge it between something to stay closed. I've kept them for months like this at room temperature (don't fridge blank plates).
Gloves are much better than no gloves because your skin flakes off and carries shit with it. RR wiped down his hands a bunch with iso and washing them and checked them under a scope and they were filthy, IIRC.
I use a towel to keep my stuff from sliding around and use empty/old dishes with Saran to elevate plates. I also use wide-mouth 1/2 pints with a paper towel in between the lid and ring so it's flat and snug. I spray this down with iso and it holds my master plate often.
Regular mouth jars fit the Oster blade perfectly. This is how I make LI's per Muda's LI Tek and how I grind mushrooms to make chocolates.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
These clone plates all look good.
What do you guys do to keep a culture? Do you leave a little myc on a plate and transfer to new plates after dropping in rye jar?
Still unknown about 5, gunna transfer and see if caps was right. I was thinking it was just tomentose but I might be wrong.

when i'm happy with a plate, i'll put a wedge of it to a slant first(which gets stored in fridge when colonized), transfer 1 wedge to another plate (as back up incase plate had hidden contams), and inoculate my jars with the rest. If jars come out fine, then the slant is good and i don't need the back up plate. Jars go bad, i got that back up plate to keep cleaning for a second try and scrap the slant.

faack, may need to start doing that. Ive been wraping each one to store. I definitely understand the dangers of bare hands but i live far from town and end up doing it whenever I run out of gloves which is often

ive been doing that until these last 2 sleeves ted. I accidentally ordered the wrong size plates and i guess i dont mind cutting 25 strips of film, but i very much mind cutting 40 smaller strips of film
This time, i poured 4 sleeves of the smaller plates, and left the sleeve in the sab where i opened it. Pour the plates, put some foil w tape over the holes to let em cool, and then return them back into their sleeves and tape shut. Out of 4 ten packs, not a single one has contaminated yet. I poured them a week ago, so well see. I dont usually have plates contam before use tho

I wrapped each one back when I first started doing pour plates, but once I got more comfortable with it, used the sleeve. I just flip it over once the sleeve is on and fold it in very tightly and tape it shut, that way there's no chance the lids bounce around or come loose. Then it goes in a 16 shoebox and stands vertically up high in my grow area.
At the very least if you're going to wrap them before use, don't waste Parafilm and do cling. I mean, whatever you feel is best, but I always did cling to save PF and then realized cling is superior.

What temprature do I bake vermiculite at?
350F 60 minutes?
ty!
My verm bag was ripped open and re-taped at the store, so I'm trying to sterilize it before I make BRF cakes.

Since the sleeve is working this potential method is no longer something im thinking about but: How yould you feel about using one sheet to wrap a whole sleeve? I do this when im trashing a massive amount of used plates, and realized i probably could have done it with blank plates to save film
Also i dont think ovens can sterilize anything with how big and dirty they are to boot. Maybe try the stove, steam "sterilize" it.

You don't have to sterilize your verm before you make BRF cakes. You are going to be sterilizing it after you mix it with unclean water and BRF.

No need to sterilize prior to mixing. Check out the segment in rrs vid. He gives it to you Very straight forward.
@stare: how long do they typically sit before use in your lab? No premature drying of media? My dishes will sometimes dry out and need tossi ng

I also like to limit the amount of alcohol / sanitizer I'm putting onto my skin
