KSSS, then micropore lids in SAB GT, then Z strain.
The one Z strain that's very far along has 4 GE holes lol the lid already had 4 holes and I didn't have any other lids.
All look well so far?

Could someone tell me what's up with this plate? Is this my first look at sectoring? Variety is APE and is the only plate of 5 APE that looks like this. All of my plates in all varieties thus far have exhibited growth in a shape between a circle and an oval, and this one is a bit all over the place. Running into contams? Or finally seeing sectoring?

ShitbirdZ said: Can i successfully grow a SupaGro Kit in Winter? I've got a heating pad so temperature shouldn't be much of a problem. But what about light? There are only few hours of sun if any these days. As always thanks in advance & best regards
uhh
You want to heat the room, not the fruiting chamber. Using a heating pad won't be doing yourself any favors if you can't keep the room between 65-75.
No one here knows what a supa grow kit is. If its a dub tub that uses live mycelium that got sent to you sure, it'll work fine. If it involves a bag
Plenty of resources on here how to make your own stuff. If you are using a kit then why do you need us They should give you "instructions" I think using a kit to start is a great idea if you have agar ready after your first crop so you can take spores or a clone from the kit and expand it from there.
Maybe that's were supa's been, busy full time making grow kits

Just joking around, but maybe in a way shitty kits are a good thing. When those kits start to go south people find the Shroomery for help.
I'm sure there are several regulars that first came here because of kit probems and now they are mushroom growing fools giving back helping others and supporting the site.

2 qts peat 1 qt verm 1tsp lime pasteurized for 1 hr. day or 2 later smells like sugar?
I'm confused, as I was applying as casing layer and noticed the smell.
Any one had an issue like this or something similar.

So I harvested those tubs, like I said there a few stragglers in each, so I put them back to finish. When I got to harvest the rest of them do I clear the bottom blobs from the clusters as well before dunking? Thanks Dick

Don't know f I used huge wedges, or it's just a z strain trait, but believe it or not, the z strain was inoculated over a week from the other strains, and its equally as caught up, if not more colonized.
The agar myc of the z strain was about as far from rhizo as it gets. Was very cottony looking. Didn't have too high expectations for it, but the growth now appears very strong.

I don't really believe or want or need everything I ask, I just try to get as much info as I can on this hobby.
Why do we not "feed" our mycelium colonies during fruiting, to stop them from dying? It's easy to make more, but for the sake of discussion, why not?
Why let the colony run out of nutes and die and become prone to contams and infection? Couldn't we keep giving them more food, let them rebuild strength, and fight off contams for 7,8,9 flushes?
I'm assuming there's a very logical reason why this isn't done. I'm not the first to think of this idea, but I'm just curious.

More nutes would require a sterile environment

Bam. Duh. Don't know what I was thinking. That's all I needed. Good luck on making that sterile environment to add more nutes huh. that's why it isn't done.
Thanks man!

The other thing is that when the colony switches it's state to fruiting, it will take energy to switch it back to a colonizing state then into a fruiting state again. Far better to only switch states once.

So the bottom of my bucket was not stirred enough and so the last tub ive made is too wet. Im sure its just over FC but it will slow things down. Im colonising with a cracked lid over it but was thinking of leaving it open for a day or so to dry things up. As established in other threads mycellium only fruits when its good and ready and so I cant see the harm in leaving it open to the central heating for a day or 2..............

Been six days since I inoculated agar with PE, PE6, and TYC. No signs of any germination....
The KSSS transfer I did is latching on though....
Anyone got a good agar recipe for spore germination? This is the first time none of my plates have done anything...
