Get a bigass flathead screwdriver and break it into chunks before you pour water over it. As long as chunks ar 1β or less thick it works pretty good, just make sure you pour the water evenly or you can still get dry spots.

He already called everyone penises for not recognizing he has nerve damage and can't handle it like that. I know what it's like to have physical limitations man. Can you handle a drill?

This thing works like a champ. It's still a little bit of a physical ordeal but I mix up twelve bricks at a time in a big ass tough tote. Pour in water, cover, walk away, come back in..... some time around an hour and get to mixin. Takes about two minutes to break it all up.

Just pour hot water over the brick then... let it cool and break it up by hand: it'll be loose enough you'll not need to use your grip much, and won't require tools

If you enjoy doing this, keep on keepin on, but its really a waste of effort
If you just dump the hot water directly onto the brick, lots of it will break apart from this alone. Letting it sit for long enough will allow you to crumble it by hand and mix with basically no effort... once you mix it all up, no more dry spots.
Sorry to GypsyCurse for not recognizing the injury. One of those drills should do the job I'd imagine

I do what verum does. Fuck mixing by hand.
I mix mine before I spawn, not an hour later though, that's fine too.

I get big bricks that make mebe 10 tubs and need to be broken apart to be weighed out. I use a mining pick. Tried many many things and this one stuck. If its a 650g brick then what they said.

The bricks of coir I use are 10lbs so It is totally necessary, If I dont at least split it in half i get a giant dry brick in the center everytime,
@gyspy Missed the injury bit there, drill attachment should do it. Shit, I might have to get me one too.

Ah nah it's totally cool. I dnt thnk i mentioned that i dnt have the same abilities. I jst said it wasnt gonna work for me, which sounds attitudie.
Thnx Verum, that shud work. I can split up blocks into large slabs with my field knife jst fine, but breaking it down by hand is too much. Gotta save some strength to wax me carrot.
Got my new sfd and scalpel shit 2day. Im kinda thnking now that a possibly large portion of my plate contamination of late is due to shit comming off my hands and exacto handle. I thnk i may have stopped being so maticulous with sanitizing my hands and handle. Noticed it the other day.

Nothing conclusive, but I noticed my contam rates on plates went down dramatically after switching from X-acto blades to a real scalpel. I figured the screw-on tips might've been dirty every time, whereas my 1-piece scalpel can be wiped with a rag very easy (or dipped into solution, which I could've done with X-acto, but never did).

Yo gypsy, I didnβt know u used an exacto for transfers... Idk if thatβs where the contam is coming from, but I do know that I havenβt had a plate contaminate (from user error) in a while using disposable scalpel blades. No flaming, no rust shit on the xacto

Most contams do come from your body. You'll notice this once working in front of a flowhood. But.
It's not because your using a exacto blade handle Trust and believe

Little trick. Pull it out farther. The blade.. It's not necessary but it helps. And also when doing transfers be sure the wedge only touched where it got flamed. It easy to not pay attention and have the wedge bump the handle part and not even notice it. And if that happpens, and that wedge is going to grain. Chances are it's fucked

I used (still use) a regular little alcohol lamp so I don't torch everywhere red hot like others and definitely think the neck area was a vector point. And I had foil banded around it, creating an even bigger little overlapping cave for shit to get stuck in. I'd get satellites out of nowhere, NOWHERE I TELL YOU!

I can see it being the case there. When I use mine I'm sure to blast that part with flame. Enough to where it heats up my handle some.
I notice with me. The more I wipe my hands down with iso. The less I get those rsndo sattelites
But I should also note that when I use a sab and 100mm plates I get rando satellites anyways.

Yep. I've been religious with iso and gloves since PF Tek. I spray my glove and rub them every time I go in, always have fresh iso-paper towels in there, etc.

I have a standard #3(ormaybe#11) scalpel handle, and i buy 2 or 3 100packs of gamma sterilized scalpel blades at a time. I know its not what everyone else does, but i really dont like the thought of leaving my torch running outside my sab. The blades are cheap, and i've done at least 300 transfers int he past 4 months with zero flaming (new blade for each plate) and naria contamination (due to the scalpel).
