mycolorado is deffo a cultist to listen to on this matter.
i would say, let this colonize all the way, then case it for real. that is, not with coir. then provide as much air as possible without ever letting it dry out.

It experienced a little shrinkage but its 1 qt of oat mixed with 1 qt of cvg, im pretty sure the depth isnt causing this... if it were, it would have happened to the entire tub over the course of the flush. Instead, the tub flushed out perfectly, and then just last night these cracked and wilted.

I'd go 1:2 spawn/coir no verm, but that's me.

Im suggesting the size of fruits and dryness.

Ohhh okay yeah. My sub has been over capacity the last few times so ive been getting shorter fruits
And quirk, im actually going to omit the verm next time and try to dial in my CVG recipe. I find that if i learn to work without something, it's easier to implement the right way next time.

Mushrooms are mainly water and they can only use what they have in the substrate. Bottom watering would of worked here though. Bod easy as fuk coir prep is super simple. for me though its 3Litres for 1 block of coir rather than his 4L. You need to dial that in for yourself but its so easy i wonder why I used to add so much other shit.

Well in my case it was Tamps and it looked very thin and wispy. Almost tossed it cause I thought it was a contam. My wispy myc covered more of the top. The verm was of a finer variety.

I am attempting to grow for the first time. Currently my jars are colonizing. The problem I have is that it has been far longer than I anticipated. Everything I read said it should be about a month or maybe a little more. At this point itβs been 10 weeks and none of the jars are fully colonized, however most are pretty close. There is just a little substrate in most of them that isnβt colonized. I have had to throw out a couple jars due to what I assumed was contamination. At first everything seemed to be fine and they were colonizing quickly. But after a while it slowed considerably. This could be because my temperature was a little bit on the low side. Iβve adjusted it and it seem to help a little but itβs still moving very slow. I donβt know if I should continue being patient, continue onto the next step, or if I should toss the jars and try again. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you probably used a spore syringe to inoculate, the long wait is almost certainly due to bacteria. I'd start again.

Start over... sounds like prep was off, or syringe was dirty... I'm guessing excess moisture during prep and/or improper sterilization contributing to bacterial infection... it may or may not fruit, pictures are worth more than your descriptions: I can see things you may not think/know to speak on
Incubating jars is old school and general causes issues... 65-75 is great (room temp on a shelf) if you're comfortable, so will your cultures be... the cooler it is, the slower growth will be, but the less hospitable conditions are for contaminants... a culture taking 10 weeks to colonize a jar is not healthy and will likely produce nothing but wasted time and resources, and a broken heart... might I suggest doing 5 things? 1. Agar: find, learn, use 2. Start something fresh... just in case 3. Follow through with these with coir prepped dry... this will help mitigate bacteria and give you an iffy tub to observe... if it fails, you'll have one example of something to look for in a loss... if it succeeds, you'll have an idea of what you can get away with and still get fruit... 4. Keep new projects started in rotation until you're comfortable with your technique and success rate... this will save time 5. Post pix

For those that still use SABs what kind of solution do you use to wipe down with? How long to wait until starting to go to work?

I don't still, but I have, so my information might still be relevant lol... folded towel down to create a seal around the bottom, dry box no spray... still air box, not soppy wet box... wipe it out occasionally with alcohol if it makes you feel better, but mine sat for months... no issue

hey lightfoot. Your shiz is probably dirty like has been stated BUT.... Shamsh that shit against something that's hard enough but soft enough.... soccer ball, basket ball, bike or car tire... I use a a bunch of cardboard that all folded over on itself and taped up. Smash it until all the grain is broken apart and then let it recolonize. If it recovers nicely (2-5 days depending on how colonized it currently is) spawn it to coir. If not you can still case it in the jar and get some fruits to clone (usually).
