I get why ppl like them. Cell treat plates. But it's also kinda like trying to choose what shoelaces u wanna buy for your shoes. They all keep your shoes on your feet.

They actually don't, I cover with foil and it makes just the edges curl under sealing it up better, still easy to remove. I replace it with a new lid when I use it. They're 50 for like $3. You cant beat it for price.

It is small, its about the same as a pasty plate but shallower with a clear lid. In my opinion easier for transfers. And they're great for cleaning up and putting clean to a petri for spawning. I feel like if Im gonna pay for a petri its only getting already clean mycelium, unless I F it up and contaim it myself.

I thought that at first but I don't have an issue with it. I wipe everything, soon as they leave the PC they are left upside down until ready to use and left that way till inside SAB, I wipe down my rack and wipe down the lid, leave it right side up, remove lid from upside down plate and smoothly place new lid on top while upside down and turn over. I feel like my contam rates are very low, what I do get I feel is from the print or the swab.

How are you guys doing spore prints? Lots of different teks for it out here but I like simple shit. I want to make some clean prints to spread the love with but don't want to spend money or feel like I'm trying to earn egal scout. I just want some easy prints. I got foil, gloves, and alcohol. I got a hood, and I got unmodded tubs of various shapes and sizes.

How long, in general, can I keep sterilised grain jars before inoculating them?

I PC'd some grain jars a week ago but can't inoculate them yet.

If they were properly sterilized to start they will keep for a while.
Lotkid sterilized grain bags and sometimes doesn't inoculate them for like a month.  And if it does contaminate on ya  better it does it in the jar rather thrn your tubs.

I literally just cut the cap off with a sterile scalpel blade, put the cap on foil, and put a 1/4 pint jelly jar on top. Just be sure to not touch the gills with bare hands, or at all if possible. and minimal exposure to moving air. This works for up to 12 prints for me. If doing more, although ive taken at least 100 prints in this fashion, just get the foil ready to fold and cut and put a tub over it. Idk if i'd leave it open printing in the hood but that's just me, im sure there's a ton of people who do just that.

First time with bags. How do I look? There are small beads of moisture around colonized parts as seen, but nowhere else. Theyre on day 7, growth is over 2" diameter shall I break it up now?

Done in a SAB so im crossing my fingers!

Looks good so far. Bags should be at least 30% colonized before shaking. But sometimes mine stall at less than 30%, so I'll shake in the hopes it resumes growth.

New to the Shroomery so not really sure of the best place to post a question, I don't even know how to start a new thread!

My question is:

I'm working on a Pan Cyan culture from a spore print (bought from Hawkseye); I germinated spores to rye extract agar, and have just done my second transfer in an attempt to narrow the genetic spectrum and remove any potential contaminants. The myc has grown pretty well so far, if not a little slower than expected (I germinated these spores once before several years ago and experienced particularly rapid growth).
The point I'm at now is 5 plates each with a cutting from a single plate. Each plate will obviously have a verying genetic spectrum, but what I'm planning on doing is innoculating a batch of rye grains with each plate, so 5 batches; I will then grow out each batch and clone the best specimens from each grown. My worry is that I have never fruited from these spores, and I'm still pretty inexperienced, particularly when it comes to attempting any sort of isolation. I know that what I have performed is not an isolation, and due to the 'multispore' nature of my cultures I imagine it would be a surprise to be left with a non-fruiting sub-strain, but I don't want to be sure of my assumption without some assurance. It's coming into winter here, and I wish to get a steady batch rotation going for the next several months, so I intend on innoculating all of my separate grain batches over the course of a week or two, then storing them in the fridge and just growing them all out one by one. Does this seem like a risk to anyone? Assuming that my cultures are clean, I prepare my sub correctly, and provide optimal conditions (I'm using what I believe to be a fool-proof automation on a 'martha' setup courtsey of Jakeoncid419), would it be a good bet that I will get at least reasonable flushes? Or would it be best to do my first grow then clone immediately? I'm not aversed to cloning, it will be a first for me and I'm keen to do it for the experience at the very least, but I don't want to waste another month growing out then spawning a cloned culture, when I could just get set up with the cultures I'm working with. To anyone who is interested my gallery includes some pictures of my germination plates, and once my current plates have grown out I can upload a few more pics.

Sorry again if this isn't the place for this, but I'd really appreciate any feedback!

Chism!

Chocolate will go stale long before the shrooms go bad. Gummies don't know.

Here’s a question for anyone who wants to answer:

Does spawning with grains give you an advantage that spawning with crumbled BRF cakes doesn’t? Like would a monotub that was spawned with grain be expected to give a bigger yield than one spawned with BRF cakes?

Thanks for any input

The cat asked, “Where do you want to go?”

“I don’t know,” Alice answered.

“Then,” said the cat, “it really doesn’t matter, does it?”

Yeah ate my last year old chocolate last week mid way through my wow dose. Even though it was foiled and vacuum sealed; It had that nice white film around it but it still felt like a 3.5 dose. :vibin:

Love chocolates due to you can just open the fridge and pop a choc until about 6 hours later when I'm under the covers.  :publicfart:
