Looks like pinks to me. Is it the same culture you’ve been running? Have you seen this before and if so, what does it do?

not always , but it's a clone from the first flush from 2 months ago, i started out with ms and witched to cloned culture and it worked real good until this
i'm thinking is from the enviroment as it shows only on the slit parts ?

It looks like pinks based off your healthy pics. Sure the bag isnt fully colonized, but I just got Golden Oysters from Caps and when I went to take a transfer fruits were forming on the agar without full colonization. Oysters are aggressive and do what they want it seems. Give it some time to develop and monitor them.

totally agree they look similar to pins; have you ever grown pinks ? they are more aggressive than anything else i've grown , sometimes fruiting at 6 -7 days after spawning , crazy fast
but i swear this ain't that , i've seen this orange sponge like balls of weird mass in my backyard when i dumped old straw under the bushes , back in the day , but now is in my bags in my new place
i'm installing the exhaust fan next week , and also a diy humidifier with a 12 head mist maker that arrived yesterday , i've been only hosing down the concrete floor , i hope this improvements on my enviroment will help this situation ,

I tried my hand at pinks last year, but mostly fucked up. That saod I dis have pins on agar so I am do have minimal experience. I found my LC syring3 in the fridge so next batch of agar I will try it again.

you should , myc on plates and grains also turns pink , and straw logs are easy to make , buckets too ,

I will certainly not mix them except for G2G. Good call, I will score some wheat too.

Ferather said: How many transfers after the spore plate is the top 1, and is the top one also ELME? Looks like multi-genetics, with adaption to media (better genetics).
Top one is first transfer, bottom two are transferred from the top plate. All are ELME, same recipe as in my last post.
Ok, personally I think you would be better off transferring a wedge from the top one, to an agar that mimic's the end media as much as possible. This will allow the multi-genetics to adapt to a media (or close to) that you intend to spawn, colonize and fruit from.
In most cases for Cubensis you will probably be doing grain + coir, unfortunately the coir will be harder to use in agar. However, it's possible to boil some coir, and filter the water in order to be used with agar or liquid cultures.
The grain will be much easier to sort out, either keep your cook water, or filter some flour.
----
Notes:
You can probably use a coffee grinder, or similar, to make your own grain and-or coir flour. Make sure the coir is plant ready, and already treated, check the pH (if possible).

Where might one find evidence of this adaptation you keep stressing so much? It seems like it isn't very important if it's actually a thing, but you seem to believe otherwise. Have you measured the difference?

Dude what kind of rabbit hole you leading people down?
Pismo used 7.5g of agar per 500ml. Looks soft. I get growth like yours from my agar being too soft. If that's telephone brand use 9g per 500.
Simple fix

So from those I gathered; that some strains prefer one substrate over another based on genetics. Shiitake, and likely other woodlovers, need more wood in their diet from the get-go. Spores to grain is slow to see growth. T-Gel is convenient to fight bacterial contamination. pH is relevant, but not always important depending upon individual strains.
Not convinced that adding grain to agar will grow cubensis more efficiently.

is 50f too low temps for colonizing grain jars to get a good colonization going??? It is late winter over here and wondering if anybody has some tips/tricks to get a move along with the colonization phase? Is a hot water cupboard a good or bad idea??

@ mushboy
If both plates where poured at the same time (or using the same recipe), how does softness explain separate phenotype's, when both wedges are from the same master?

If your house is 50 I'd say yes. Your better off in the water heater closet. Your jars will.take forever at that temp. Have you taken the temperature of the closet?
