If anyone follows the FB shroomery page, "Thomas" has a bag tek on there and I followed that for some RW with limited success.
Definitely need to improve on my technique here, I just neglected it and it pry would have appreciated some FAE holes being cut in, but I want to move forward with the bags and I'm currently trying to get a PE swab (thanks again Legend!) germinated and just looking ahead into fruiting questions. Any links to PE bag grows that I somehow missed would be sweet, thanks cult

I tried a fresh swab I took and came out super clean and germination occurred in like 2 days so I have hope for you!

Fresh swabs are the only one's that have made it... Different sources, not used immediately... I postulate it's the degree of moisture present at the time of the swab... Really no way of avoiding infection eventually IMO... Had one that didn't grow ANYTHING... So it was completely clean! LOL

I had one I streaked 3 plates with and all 3 where completely void of any type of growth used the same swab in a 4th dish cut the tip off and left it in the dish. Got growth from it after like 3 weeks. Kept the swiped dishes too never saw so much as a bacterial spot in those.

The only time I’ve gotten one to work was when I used tweezers to grab a tiny piece of the cotton. That ended up germing

damn debbie downers lol naw i get it, if that's what everyone's experience has been, then Ill assume I am going to be challenged with germination.
It was only streaked the other night, so today would be day 2 anyways.

I've worked with a few swabs, I'd say half worked easy no problem, the others were a mixed bag.
A trick someone on here recommended, which worked on a stubborn swab that wasn't germing: just stick the fucker in the damn agar and twist it. I tried 3 attempts getting more and more agressive with that swab on agar but nothing! Then I stuck that shit in deep and twisted it around and it germinated. The swab is likely fucked as a result, but it worked

About to do my first large grow and log it on here post grow. Doing ten 58qt Unmod Bod Tubs. Coir\verm\gypsum.
Which strain should I pick? Thinking Ecuadorian or Mazatapec. Just looking for the fastest easiest growing strain.
Any other tips? How many dry Ozs do you normally get off 1 tub by the time it's done?

How's everyone doing? So I'm looking for some insight, and any advice is appreciated. I'm new to this sight so I am still trying to become familiar with it. If I'm in the wrong forum for my topic just let me know where I can be redirected and that too will be appreciated.
So I borrowed some mycelium from a naturalized Psilocybe Ovoideocystidiata patch that I have been tending to, obviously twigs and things also came along with that which already had a great relationship with the ovoids. And yes, I did replenish them with a new food source. Anyway, the "TEK" that I'm using I actually found on mycotopia. Here is the link if anyone's interested. https://mycotopia.net/topic/8912-psilocybe-ovoideocystidiata-indoor-fruiting/
Sorry, I'll get to it. I rewinterized the mycelium by letting it sit in my freezer for 5 days. Then I let it thaw a little and introduced store bought hardwood chips. I then placed my "substrate" in a Tupperware dish that had holes put in bottom so water can drain properly. I chose to case it with coffee grounds, and more wood chips. The only difference being they were small enough that they worked somewhat as a filler, not quite sawdust though. It was then soaked to simulate a brief flooding, and drained. Then I layed out a layer of sphagnum moss so it covered the entire surface area of 66 QT storage tub. Tupperware was then placed in tub and lid was shut. Occasionally opening lid to introduce a little fresh air by fanning. I'm not misting all that much because it is doing it's intended job with controlling humidity level, along with temperature and everything seems to be going well so far.
I apologize for the length, but here is where I need some input. The mycelium growth in my dub tub is doing well, it has actually been running pretty aggressive. It's been 7 days today and it is on through the top of my casing, and it grew through 2 inches in my wood chip/coffee concoction. It's not totally covered, but it's breaking through in more areas than was expected. The thing is I have a peanut butter container that I also put my substrate mixture in and also a 2 liter bottle 3/4 full of it. I opened the lid of PB container and the wood chips are being consumed very fast, and it's so rhizomorphic it's just reaching out in every direction trying to get a hold of whatever it can grab. It's fascinating how fast it's taking over. Damn it, I'm sorry again for the length. I'm trying to ask if it would be ok if I introduce that to the tub, or just get something else going with that on it's own? Is it possible that I will jeopardize what's already happening in my tub if I did introduce more of this mycelium growth or should I do that, and is that beneficial in any way?It honestly looks like it's getting ready to start fruiting, inside the PB container especially. I just wanna be smart about this and not get too excited and make an irrational decision that leads to a situation I won't be able to fix. Any suggestions?

If it doesn’t work I’ll try dropping spore solution on a swab and sending it or just a syringe.

tl;dr version - McMitch wants to combine two containers of substrate, in which both are not fully colonized. Any issues with doing so?
I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to help by making the question concise!

How do you grow out clones without further isolating sectors from it? I'd like to take a clone and just fill new monotubs tubs from it but as soon as I take a small piece of agar from the first clone plate I imagine I'm isolating sectors or a sector from it and can no longer count on it growing like the mushroom I took the clone from. Do you have to isolate the clone down to single sectors and test them individually? or just not worry about it and it tends to work out?

Have you ever taken a nice looking potent clone and cut a small piece of agar from the clone dish and got a poor fruiter or super weak potency? Like a shit isolate from the abundance that were present in the initial clone
