Hey, what is the state of the art regarding importance of co2? I`ve read some recommend to seal monotubes until its colonized. Is this still valid? I was planing to use micropore tape for the holes as soon as its filled with coir+grain.

i'd wager 1:2-3 would be better, thinking that lower ratios would flush out sooner, so a sub destined to contaminate would produce higher be sooner. but then, i'm certain 100% coir isn't ideal, so the sub has to be pasteurized, which is more involved, and difficult for larger amounts.
Cool I didn’t know if 1:1 was okay or not. I know some people do 1:3, 1:4, for pans and such so I had no idea about these. I did take your advice though and get some manure in there. I did half coir half Hpoo and pasteurized yesterday. Hoping to spawn one quart to Bulk today.

Mushrooms and mycelium are aerobic organisms that require oxygen for healthy growth... no dark colonization with restricted FAE... my (and MANY(most) others) conditions at spawn are the same as at harvest: much like you'd find in nature

I've got some pf tek jars left from my first fruit. half or so are covered in green... Bruising? The rest are fine and pinned. This is my second flush and it seems like huge waste to throw these ones away. Has anyone tried scraping through the bruised layer and giving it more time? Would this be wasted effort? I switched from a vermiculite casing layer to perlite and the growth I have had is looking good and growing quick. I'm thinking of modifying a large dresser to contain 3 tubs with an enclosed air purifier and lights and fans and such. But that's just an idea at the moment.
P.S. I have the deep thought package from... So I need a resource for all the different strains. I've used 1 or 2 syringes so far. I have 30 or 31 left... I inoculated 7 half pint jars week before last and 7 more last weekend with Golden Teacher. I'm switching to oats for my cultivation, but I'm thinking of keeping my buddy with pf tek. His location is less... ideal. My idea for him is a halfway busted fridge. I'm just waiting on a thermostat that will go up to 70 and hope that it will wire right in. Sorry to ramble.

Green isn't bruising: blue is... got a picture? Do not scrape it... if it's bru8sing and you're seeing funny, it won't help, and the cake likely needs water... if it's green, it's likely mold, and scraping will only spread it... if it's mold, it'll be a waste not to scrap them

green bruising is a thing, like a very light blue on a yellowish surface will make green shades. It's usually pretty clear if it's myc or sporulating mold based on shade and texture.
/e missed full context. Half your substrate covered in green sounds like a toss.

i posted in the wrong forum so i just copied it ,
i pasteurize straw in there with hot water and lime , i use that water heater to fill it with hot water and not loose 1 hour trying to get it hot with only the burner , then use the burner to maintain above 140 for two hours , drain and cool overnight and knock up next morning , i have a table to spread the straw but is not in the pic .
i used to do the water heater thing but with my old drum barrel which was insulated , it's busted now and i need more capacity , this tank fits an entire shredded 40 Kilo bale
thoughts?

can I haz Oysters?
If I wanted to grow my own straw, what exactly would I be growing? I was thinking about starting an acre of rye grass followed by rye.

well if you got the land O:
my area has wheat , barley and oats mostly for cattle , usually "young" oat straw is the best for oysters ime , also more weight per bale
i hear they buy bags of seeds and dump them all around the fiel then plow the fields with a big old tractor before the rainy season , i'm around south cali so autumn i guess i don't really know
and regarding the oysters i'll get some results going soon , basically i was having shitty results with lime past so while filling the tub with water i thought , why isn't this water already at 165 F as i'm filling it up with water ANYWAY , so yeah , water heater and a burner
this is what will go down :
oats straw , crushed oyster shells 1 handful , hpoo ( 1 kilo of turds thrown in the shredder along with the straw ) and hydrated lime 2 handfuls per 30 to 40 K bale fill with water 140 - 160 F 2 hours ,
and i got some pink , yellow , mediterranean ( weird af myc ) and phoenix jars ready to go ,
wish me luck and any tips ?
gracias
