Shoeboxes are forming more pins, I do see some side pins coming tho. I know this means surface conditions are less than ideal, however, when I look at the surface, there are small beads of water basically throughout the entirety of the surface - this is what I want, yea? Still looks like a decent amount of pins coming up on the surface, haven’t wanted to open the boxes up and disturb anything tho so haven’t gotten the best look.
What can I do better for next time? Think my sub was a bit beyond field capacity, so the new batch of shoeboxes I made had drier coir - basically had to squeeze the hell out of it to get a drop or two of water out. If this doesn’t fix the side pinning what do I do?

Do you press down your sub? especially around the sides.

I did! It’s nice and level with the sides tamped down. I haven’t noticed any shrinking from the sides of the shoeboxes.

Just a quick question about this PEU jar, it's a master and just wanted some opinions on it.

I just spawned 12 SB with 2 pints of oats with 2 hefty cups of coir then two more on top. Then I made a mono with a 5qt bag with the rest of my coir. I squeezed the coir to field capacity better this time. The coir used for the SB was PCd. The coir for the bag was sitting hydrated for a week or two. Got a good feeling bout it all

Here's my tek for shoeboxes. The main aim of this is to focus on hydration of the coir, and surface misting to intentionally avoid side/bottom pins. There's always a chance you'll get some, especially as the sides start to pull away, but you'll cut them down 90% or more.

It looks mildly bacterial. Big clues in the upper left where its both got condensation and those grains stuck to the glass. However, I'd spawn it. Be careful that you're not over hydrating your grains as that helps the bacteria. You got this.

Will try that for my next time! Does side pinning significantly affect yields?
Think I’ll be able to dial it in on the 4th attempt. Have some jars going (:

Nope! Honestly the only thing side pins do is make it more challenging to harvest. No joke. You'll figure it out!

I'd think of it more as an indicator of how well you're managing the tub. Better managed tubs will tend to have better yields and mostly on top, but doesn't mean you should drive yourself nuts over a few side pins.

Yeah my fruits have psuedo but some of the surfaces will be dry ? And the surfaces of the Infected fruits looks almost perfect ? Maybe it's more humid due to the bag the air goes in and back up creating a wet air flow

This looks like it's bacterial, and has mold to me... you might get fruit, but definitely not master material IMO

I would toss anything with it in it. I believe its bacteria which can hop fruits in tubs but im not 100% sure.

I agree with both them fellers that your jar looks off I'd bag it if you can o have used bacterial jars in bags and they still push out fruits pretty good

Absolutely not master material. I'd give her a shake test and see how she recovers. Trash, top fruit or bag it if it's problematic. Go to a tub of she recovers nicely.

Mine does this, maybe not quite as much but definitely colonizes quite a bit. I still get fruits and no blobs now that I've got the thickness and timing of my casing perfect. I'll upload more pictures of this as it progressed but here's one before and after first pins
