Alright. How are you guys and girls getting your LME LC's so clear? I decided to make a LC everyday till I get it nailed down and have gallons of myc but the cloudyness is bumming me out. I want that crystal clear shit like I see shaper and mushboy posting.

Mix with COLD water, use only a small amount initially, and mix immediately to prevent the LME from developing clumps... same with agar as well

To avoid clumps use cold water and add your powder first to the bottle then add cold water.
Dumping powder into water or using hot water will give you clumps. Kinda like baking a cake. You mix dry ingredients first then add liquids
2g lme per 400ml cold water. PC 15min@15

That's all? No sugar, no honey?
might take a leap of faith soon: have a couple cultures who've been clean AF on agar for months... might as well I suppose
How is it for storage? Let it grow then cold store or?

I think I used too much LME. I went 400ml of water to 16 grams of lme. Lol. Saw 4% somewhere and ran with it. You should get a making LC thread going. Also I used cold water but added powder to water. Gonna go try this again. A few dozen times.

I just used 15g for 1000ml. I was following something stare had written up. Growth is good now that it's used to the MEA. But I think I could still drop it more. Still kinda Tom growth.

Yeah, so those clear LCs come a couple days after inoculation, it's a little cloudy-ish after coming out of the PC.
2g LME for 400ml water:

PC for 25 min and you get this (2 on the right, left is agar):

You can see it's a tiny bit cloudy. This goes away w/in about 2-3 days when the myc takes hold. My LC have started to go clear (as opposed to brownish/yellow) after about 2 weeks. It's neat! I'd say I'm at about... 50%~ success rate right now. I'm hesitant to just keep making LC though as I'll probably end up with just tons of jars sitting around doing nothing. Also, I'm going to go back to 1g and 250ml water for the next batch. It's taking forever for 400ml to colonize (started fast but then kinda slowed down)

Crystal clear malt agar
Stir or whisk into hot water. slowly add in the malt extract to avoid clumping.
Boil it to coagulate/precipitate proteins. Pour into media bottles leaving crud behind.
Once you boil malt it precipitate out solids that will not dissolve again

Shoeboxes seem to be colonizing nicely but mycelium is growing into the air it seems. Do I need more FAE? The lid is snapped shut on the boxes.

It's not necessary, but helps with weeds and pests (rodents namely)

It's overhydrated and displaying symptoms of insufficient FAE due to low evaporation rate... try to dial field capacity drier initially next run... opening up slightly to dry it a little faster (not overboard: could ruin surface conditions) until it lightens up a little, then shut it down... id leave it alone personally
Be patient and let it do it's thing

Right on, thanks! Think I have a better idea for getting the coir more dry for next time. When I squeezed a couple drops will come out, but Iβll go for drier.

This may sound stupid but mushrooms are way smaller than they look in pictures and video. I mean yes some are really big and fat.

Quirkmeister92 said: No, just a little green on the top of the dark coir top layer. The bottom looks fine, cube myc, which has broken the surface in two small spots with no green.

that entire top layer as that snow dusted trichy myc look to it.
So I used a shop vac to suck the trich coir top layer.

Not perfect, but gonna produce I expect
