But if you want to tape or silicone it for peace of mind then go for it.

I just went through some of my old ones and guerilla taped the cracks. Winter storage was tough on them.

Do Rusty Whyte revert commonly? I left for 3 days and 3/4 shoeboxes are white and rusty, but one is traditional color cap and spores.

My LC lids, when not using my socorex, are just plastic lids with a quarter sized SFD RTVed over a hole. I choose not to use SHIPs because they are a potential contaminated vector that I'd rather avoid. I'd rather free pour out take the lid off to draw out the LC.
On the topic of melting bags in the PC, I use my AA all the time with very few issues. I had extra grain yesterday and decided to give the ol Presto a chance. Inspired by the recent convo had here, I went without the foil. Two bags came out very deformed but not ripped or torn and two exploded. The two that popped were both on the same side. I've got a few theories but must be missing something. I didn't come close to running out of water and the flames were not keeping up the side. I'm confused again.

I don't use sleeves in my aa. Why does the Presto need them? Because it cools faster?

What's your btu rating on your stove just curious
And the only difference between an AA and presto is a vacuum so I'm not 100% sure either but that may have something to do with it.

Never seen one but people make them. Lab autoclaves have filtered air intake to break the vacuum formed.

I don't mind the vacuum at all. I do think it broke my PSI gauge though. Not sure how the internal mechanisms work but it reads 2.5 when at zero pressure now. I think the vacuum is responsible for.... Bending the springs.....
Van, I don't know the BTU my stove I don't think it's very powerful. I'll check later.

Yo this might be a dumb question but this seems like the place to post lol
Can I use the heating element on my stove top to sterilize my tools for cloning? I dont have a torch on hand and I was planning on putting my sab on my kitchen counter beside my stove.

How long do you all let a jar of oats sit around without knocking it up before tossing it and starting over? Till it's mouldy or stinks, or do you have other criteria?

Prolly 3 days at this point. I left a few dozen for a week or so recently and 90% are trash. May have been sloppy work or dirty agar. I have left jars longer, but no more will I be dragging ass.

Can't answer your stove top question but I can't imagine it's very effective unless your SAB is right beisde it or something but kitchen + SAB is just terrible practice anyway. Kitchen is terrible spot to attempt any sterile work.
As for torches, Canadian tire has a kick ass butane torch that comes on sale from like $50 to $12 often, check the flyers...it's blue
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/iroda-pt-200-butane-torch-0587503p.html
That's the one, I've used mine for years. Amazon is decent place to check too if you do't wanna wait for a CT sale.
It goes down to $12 like 5-6 times a year at minimum tho so if you keep checking you'll see it drop

Just use a lighter for the time being. Set up your sab in the smallest most draft free room you have. Anything that gets it red hot will work.
