On agar, you've got clean culture... Not really spawn unless it's on grain/sawdust/dowels etc... Drop a wedge into a sterile LC mixture, in sterile conditions, and let it alone...

Bugs as in fungus gnats hatching from it, or just bugs in the room/tub?

They are a small brown mite looking bugs. They are in my tub and it seems they don't like the mycelium cause they avoid it and run around the parts without growth. I tried picking some out and was able to get a few out. Super quick though.

I'll try but they might be too small to pick up.

The sub I mean... trying to determine a few things:

A. What type of bug
B. What are they after
C. Where did they come
    from (in a product you're using for bulk mix, outdoors, etc)
D. How/what you're prepping

I'm using cow poop and vermiculite a pasteurized for 60 minutes. The Cow poop did set outside for a few weeks before using it. I haven't had this problem before using poop.

Red Pepper mites

Red pepper mite
These mites are bigger in size and faster in movement than other mites. These predator mites feed on nematodes, smaller mites and the eggs and larvae of other mushroom pests. Therefore, they can be considered as helpful insects on different stages of mushroom cultivation. But on the other hand, the presence of predator mites indicates the presence of their source of food, that is, the more mites, the more other pests there are. This, in turn, means something went wrong during the compost preparation process and its pasteurization, and that there are some problems in the sanitary state of the farm.

Despite the fact that predator mites only benefit the mushrooms, they cause discomfort for the working personnel because they easily stick to clothes and hands, causing unpleasant sensations.

When predator mites appear, it is advised to test the whole batch of compost to detect their source of food and take measures against the real mushroom pests.

The general measures taken to prevent the appearance of all kinds of pests during the mushroom cultivation process could be the following:
high-quality composting and compost pasteurization for the purpose of obtaining selective medium for mushroom mycelium;
maintaining strict hygiene on the farm;
Controlling flies and other mite spreaders;
Thorough cleaning of all machinery, equipment and rooms that were used during the spawning process and spawn run;
Steaming the rooms in the end of the cultivation cycle at necessary temperature, (it has to be made sure that the needed temperature level was reached in the whole growing room and in containers and shelves, to exclude any possibility for the mites to survive;
Using disinfectants to clean all working surfaces and implements;
Immediate removal of spent compost from the farm.

I'd say if it straightens back out on it's own, then you have something to worry about. As long as the seal is good and there's no cracks, I doubt you've done much to the structural integrity.

Sounds like (if you've properly identified them) you should be thankful, and

A. Have an underlying pest issue

B. Should catch/breed

I'm praying hard that everything turns out okay! If not I still have more jars growing. I will take pictures when and if it starts to pin.

Just tested it and it builds pressure just fine with no leaks. The gauge is for sure at a light angle but it doesnt seem to matter.

Took my tray and added fruiting conditions hoping everything works out. The bugs are still there and if they multiply I'm taking it outside. Then scrubbing my grow room and cleaning it.

For an LC lid, what exactly do you need? Would an SFD with a SHIP attached to it be sufficient? This way you could aspirate out solution through the SHIP but not create a vacuum? Or is it better to go with rubber tubing on the lids like in some teks.

Thank you! Just gave them a Read over, seems like that should work just fine. Already have some self healing injection ports that I ordered from one of the vendors, so I was trying to see how I can make that work. Think I’m going to give this a shot.

Here's an update of that tray. The thing seemed to kick ass overnight and it's at 98% to 100%. I misted and fanned and put a freezer bag over the top.

I was trying to make a sgfc and kinda fucked it up, can i still use this tub? maybe silicone the crack and melt my holes instead of drilling them?

also, Im planning to use the sgfc to fruit wide mouth pints of oysters (I have colonized quarts of spwan). My question is can I lippa tek fuel pellets in a bucket and then treat it like I do coir? any danger in taking from the bucket and mixing with spawn into pint jars?

I’m pretty sure that crack won’t cause any major issues.

But if you want to tape or silicone it for peace of mind then go for it.

That crack shouldn't be an issue. But it might be tricky to drill the rest of the holes without cracking it more.
Just saw you already said you're going to melt the rest.:thumbup:
