Right, but could I get away with it better on metal lids? With the rubber seal on the outside ya know?

Im pretty opinionated on plastic lids.
I fucking hate em and use metal rubber side down all the way.
I used to do rubber side up for awhile but prefer the seal now.

how do you take it off without a tool? I guess it's less sketchy in front of a hood, but using tools to remove lids has always concerned me.

I use my thumbnail.
Did it in sabs too. I did run an sab for 4 years before I got a hood lol
Break seal and spin the lid in place on top of the jar is how I do it. breaking the intial seal is hard but the rest comes with a twist.

Interesting. I just loaded 16 pints into my PC; all with plastic lids modded with SFD, and my oats are perfect this batch. I will inoculate with MN-APE wedges, from very clean and uniform plates, in my SAB.

idk... after I sliced the side of my thumb open prying open a gasket-down lid (probably needed stitches but I'm fucking broke so fuck it) I've been trying to find any other method to use besides gasket-side-down 2-piece metal lids. Going with upside down 2-piece metal lids for a bit to test them out. Moving to plastic after that if this fails.

How TF did u manage that.
I've done thousands of jars like that and have never slipped in a way to cut myself.

The jar lid popped off after a struggle and jammed straight into my thumb on the hand that was holding the jar. I wrapped it up in tagederm. Happened getting an early pf tek lid off. Here's the scar about a year later, it's that weird diagonal line (which looks much less like a scar in pictures than in person):

Im an idiot forgot my experimental, for learning humidity chamber lid fully closed So shroomer turned to ugly Is it safe to eat that right one and can someone explain why she turned so ugly Too much moisture and shit yea but there's better explanation
Im pretty satisfied i grow mushrooms, i tought i will fail when jars we're half time colonized, but my shoboxes are finishing third flush, not nothing great in yield but like i sayd im satisfied i didn't fail all the way. My biggest problems have been surface conditions, its too dry or too wet, i didn't misted like two days before today's morning and with that many little pins aborted, caps turned black Much love and thanks to all of you.

before buying any new lids, yesum posted a borrowed idea for turning two piece lids into one piece lids. it's pretty slick, i thought to myself. lemme find it.... if/when i need more lids, this is the first thing i'll try.

I have plastic lids that I've run many, many times with cut up SFD's siliconed on them... sometimes I have to put new silicone on them but it takes many cycles. Never had a single lid warp or change to the point that it wasn't usable and my contamination rate on jars is extremely low. I've had 2 contaminated jars out of about a hundred in the past 2 months
Everyone has their own opinion on this I feel you just gotta see what works right for you. Personally I like the plastic lids because they're 1 piece and easy to screw off and don't rust. I've never had issues though, if I had issues I would stick with metal.
FWIW the lids I use are ball brand plastic storage lids, but I've seen a buncha people post success with mainstays lids too. There are also higher quality plastic ones available from some shroom growing supply vendors and they are as cheap as the walmart ones if you need to buy 100 or more

Yeah I’ve used ball and Walmart brand. They don’t warp to the point where they’re not usable they just don’t fit how they did the first time and kind of act like they don’t want to screw on how the should. Like they shrink or something. But I’m Definitley a fan of the plastic lids

some of my plastic lids have warped some, to the point that they don't screw on without bending them a little. messes with my mojo. most are ok tho. but since i still have all the metal lids that came with all the jars i bought, the tyvek sandwich trick will be real cheap and easy to try.

I'm going to use plastic lids loosely screwed on with cling wrap around the rim like a petri when I start back up soon, probably put them in a tote as an extra precaution. Fuck filters.
If someone had spore syringes in a small lunch cooler and it went below freezing for a night or 3 before he realized the situation, are the spores dead?
It was 5 months ago and I have petri dishes in the same cooler that have grown to the edge and look like they want to pin even though it's been chilly.
