Ouch!!!
My side and back yard has been looking like a Disney cartoon lately. Birds, squirrels, ground hogs, coyotes, all come from far and wide to munch on the mycelium:

I cant do that with my tubs. Lol
At least not with any accuracy.

Wow! That was the funniest thing i've seen in a while.
Quick question here, didnt wanna create a thread for such a silly question...
Does the size of agar wedge matter at all? I have/had a clean looking T2 plate, very uniform nice growth and I just cut it into 4 wedges and inoc'd 4 grain masters. I think it probably doesnt matter but I'd like a little input anyway. Does size matter?

sorta.
i used to use 60mm dishes and id cut those in half and inoculate. 100mm dish cut in half seem to colonize quicker because its more inoculate

It seems to only matter in speed of colonization in my experience. I've always done very cautiously sized wedges (like 3cmx3cm) and my colonization is SLOW AF. But then I do g2g twice in a row after that and it kinda makes up for it when I suddenly have like 6 quarts to spawn with twice within a week or so of each other.
I started moving up to intentionally doing a "Tiger Drop" and setting up plates that are just for doing that with slightly softer agar that spreads the myc around better. Basically colonization from my cautious wedges take 2-3 weeks, and tiger drops are 1-2 weeks-ish. For this I'm also looking into fucking around with LI/LC soon because the one time I messed with it I was stunned at how fast my jars colonized.

Sweet. Mine will probably be slow then but I kinda already figured this would be the consensus. Thanks mushboy and shaper!

Do you folks always double bag your dried fruits? I recently checked up on my stash and anything in only one layer of plastic bag had taken on moisture/gone squishy-ish, and all the ones that were at least double bagged were still cracker dry.
Maybe it was just small pinholes in the bags that I couldn't see, which is why I'm double checking with yall

I think ive seen you mention that before so I looked all over that page and its sold as a combo and the specs on the right of the page state 1 material
but absolutely I should call and verify if all is kosher, are these a good alt to glad mini rounds, or do you have a link by chance to your preferred containers?

I really think they discontinued the glad mini rounds. After not finding them at Walmart and seeing other posts saying they couldn’t find them I looked online. Amazon had a few so I went ahead and stocked up I barely use them but for some reason the work better when I’m working with spores. Maybe it’s just the recipe I do but I use pasty plates for spores and regular dishes for transfers.

I know but for some reason I just got used to making pasty plates for spores. I just tried making softer agar in plates to see if that will help.
