Maybe your holes are on the wrong place, either too low or too high. Or not shoulder width apart.
A wrong ergonomy could lead to this shaking.

Nah, it's plenty comfy. Extra big holes, shoulder width apart. I made sure the holes were in the right spot.
It's just stupid anxiety is all. Stems from me being still pretty new to agar and very badly not wanting to fuck it up.

Apparently a single shot of vodka is the cure. No more than that though.
RR mentioned something about rifle shooting competitons? doing breathalyzer tests for this very reason.

It really does work great.
Not real big on Vodka so I went with 3 light wussy beers drank casually. Shaking gone.
Figured i'd bring it up in case any other noobs like myself were having the same issue. I've been doing agar work for about a month and never thought until today to try having a few beers. Could have saved me a lot of frustration.

I really need to take a pic of my setup when I do sab work lol. I got my laptop on top showing TV with my ash tray and pipe. If you're shaky you just need to do more and more practice until you're extremely comfortable

I couldnt have a TV in front of my SAB. I want to get out of thing as quick as possible, not dick around and watch Family Guy. I listen to podcasts on my phone, and I never put anything on top of my sab while I working to prevent from knocking water droplets and contams off the roof.

It's like on the corner xD my top has a bulge downwards anyways. I usually work at the back, away from it. Yeah I used to actually have the SAB in the living room on the table while on the couch watching TV but the wifey kicked me out
I definitely dick around, and take many smoke breaks. It's for fun so whatevs. I can't be serious because then it feels like work

Yeah man, I've been there, glad to know I'm not the only one that went through that awful shit. During my three or four first SAB sessions I was shaking like a damn heroin addict going cold turkey.
Things that can help you; big ass SAB (110 qts capacity or more) with big ass holes, plexiglass windows for better visibility, find a sprayer that has a very fine mist, use a torch and of course, tons of practice.
Things that can reassure you and make you feel calmer; go big, don't just make 2 or 4 plates for transfers, more time in the SAB will calm you eventually and you won't give a fuck. SAB's are way safer than most noobs might think, it's not easy to get contams on an open plate if you follow correct procedures. Be outside of your head, really pay attention to your movements and to what you see and do it slowly at the beginning, it's ok to shake, just accept it and be mindful of your movements. Cool your scalpel really well on the receiving plate, cut the agar like 3 or 4 times, this'll prevent pieces of myc from sticking like a bitch onto the blade. Don't panic if you can't get a piece of myc from the donor plate... your scalpel have been scraping the mycelium and has lots of invisible pieces of live tissue on it, enough to noc a plate with and see growth (much slower than if you noc with a normal wedge). Finally, think about the worst case scenario: your receiving plate has contaminated to shit... well, even this has a solution, you can always transfer healthy myc away from contams and if the plate is really fucked up and you can't afford to trash it, you can try pouring warm agar into the plate and healthy myc should grow on the surface of the new layer of agar within 2 or 3 days, then grab a inoc loop and scrape healthy myc from the surface to transfer to a new plate.

Everyone I would like you to meet Todd the GLC

Is there anything more exciting that I can do with Todd besides fill syringes with gauges that I currently do not have?

So I'm glad you know the meaning of the acronym but... you see what's wrong here? I kind of just explained it.

well thats not a grain liquid culture. its a liquid culture that you made with grain water. not the same thing.
GLC is when you add water to a colonized jar of grains, shake it up, and remove the water.
