dang , those look clean to me , show us your cleanest jar caps
and i'm glad to hear that about them shiny edges ; i' ve been messing aruond with that trying to get rid of them , i transferred only the shiny edge and got mycelium not mold , good to go ?
also , i got this mold from germinating spores from a outdoor oyster , and it's very similar to the shiny edges , i'm was tripping thinking that the mold is growing intertwined with the mycelium , is this even possible ?

Question for those experienced with cloning: I am looking for a clone that will produce well and I have found a couple clusters that seems to be good options.

Where would you take the clone/clones from with these clusters? Does it make a difference if I get the tissue sample from close to the base or further up the stem?
I most am a MS kinda guy but I have taken a couple clones in the past...however, they were just big second flush solo mushrooms that ended up being subpar producers in the end. Trying to avoid that situation this time as much as possible.

i see your future ; testing , whoa that's a lot of testing O:
i read somewhere that you want the ability to cluster more than size ; may be wrong although there's only one way of knowing

Take one of the little pins in the center of the clusters straight to agar.

Still suspect the presence of bacteria, but these are pretty clean... I'm a spawn snob; which is why I don't do a lot of G2G: picky lol I've got a better one somewhere, but right off hand:

Both MS PEU and this clone ended up with the super thick mycelium
That’s good to know that’s exactly how a lot of my PEU plates look. Of course not as uniform as that clone but same thickness.
I’ve noticed it with AA+ also.

They might be idk. That one thick one recovered so quick it was crazy. I shook it and it was done days before any other one and has been super aggressive even on agar. That’s not to say there’s no bacteria in there but with how quick it recovered im going to spawn it anyway lol

I think moderate amounts of bacteria can increase speed: almost as if the culture is trying to outrun it... it's funny, I have a hard time spotting green, but signs of bacterial infection jump out at me... maybe I'm just paranoid, as I see it EVERYWHERE lol

I had trouble getting cakes out from jars so i decided to fruit in jars. Removed dry verm layer and put new moist on top. Didn't dunked Can someone say why my stems have so much mycelium? I can't save those wrong way growing fruits? There are some more For one i digged little thru verm and she started growing right way, at least one more fruit Its my first time so im pretty happy to get something at all. My only problem have been too much moisture

Excess moisture and insufficient FAE will cause fuzzy feet... give them air and let them evaporate a bit

I'd take the biggest ones usually that is signs of first to pin fastest to mature .. I watch my tubs and first pin to first matured always then anything else that catches my eye... also I will RIP the stem with your fingers cut on the inside.. after you put to agar take a small bit say a pinky knuckle if you dont feel a body fry within 20 minutes toss that culture before it even starts wasting your time .. theres no telling what a clone will do till you test it ...

I'm a mid stipe cloner... also find that the smaller the sample I use (realistically speaking - Still visible) the faster it recovers, and cleaner it is initially

Pins from plates I just throw the whole damn thing on the next plate. No cutting needed.
And I find the younger the tissue is the better it usually grows. Usually.

Question about SFDs. The vendor I got it from made it seem like they were useable as is, a lot of folks here will make holes in the metal lids and use both to not get too much gas exchange and dry the jars out. I basically just made mine with a self healing injection port and then used that without the metal lid. Are my grain jars going to dry out now?

If youre running a Martha set up, should be fine
Thanks, this was my thought too. I guess I never thought about using my martha for cubes I've got a bit of space in it though, so I'm likely going to try!
I guess my followup question is: Is it bad to leave the lids of shoeboxes on in a martha that has temp/humidity regulation? Will that cause it to over heat and get too saturated?
