I wouldn't suggest clipping it, but I've got full size tubs with clips I don't flip lids on... in fact, the sub in the center photo of my signature was from such a tub, no modification, and likely clipped until day 5 or so...

The design of the plastic tub is irrelevant. FAE is adjusted by flipping and offsetting the lid.

I wish I could take credit but I learned the technique here. It's also how I'm currently fruiting bags too. More or less. Oldie but a goodie. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14743475

Right which is what i'm saying. if you look at the actual shoeboxes they have a gap around the inside of the lid which means no flipping or offsetting, just set and forget...

I guess all tubs are different, it's not like everyone uses a product that's sold as a 'shoebox' either. I know I don't. It's just called storage box

Lol yeah if they were selling them as shoeboxes, designed for mycology, they'd be a lot more expensive

Did a bunch of reading on agar today and once I get my B+ fruited, Iβm gonna try to make a clone of the best looking fruits. Could someone just make sure I have the process down? Basically, I will set up my echo dishes, pick the best fruit, and in the still air box to take a center portion of the stem and drop this on to agar. This should then colonize it. At this point, I could section off a piece of the best looking mycelium And transfer that to another plate until I get uniform radial growth. This would essentially be my βmasterβ plate. I could then basically take sections of this to other plates which I could then inoculate grain jars with or I could make a liquid culture. And I could always make another so-called master plate by simply dropping a small piece of the original onto a new plate. And if the fruiting of this isolate is no good, I could go back to that first plate made from the mushroom stem and try again with a different sector? Is this line of thinking correct?
Thanks!

when it comes to shoeboxes, I've read that some people put them right to fruting conditions(bag over open tub or dub tub) and some keep it closed for colonization. Is there a difference in yield when going directly to fruiting?

Make sure to sterilize your tool and read any agar guide you can find

Right on, Iβm gonna use Pastyβs no pour tek. How many plates do you think I should make off the mushroom? And I have access to disposable, sterile scalpels so Iβll be using those!

Disposable scalpels are usually plastic and they melt when you flame em. Buy a small xacto from the hardware/craft store I think the ones I like are #11.
I usually make 3 plates for a clone and pick the best one and toss the others. Usually I make 3-4 of whatever transfer just to increase my chances of getting a nice clean plate to move forward with, a little wasteful of materials but saves you time down the line.

After using the SGFC for some years, Ive realized it is essential to use as much perlite as possible.
I am currently using a small SGFC filled with 6 inches of perlite and its working great. For now on, Im never underfilling my SGFC with perlite. 6 inch layer or more!
It seems to prevent dry-outs and provides more moisture, which is exactly what i need

Ah good point. And thanks for the tips! Super stoked to get some agar going, the no pour tek makes it seem so easy!

Pouring is easy too, dont be intimidated, after pouring a stack incoulating them and wrapping in parafilm you feel like a real mad scientist.

Haha I agree, it doesnβt seem to bad - I actually have a degree in biochemistry so it shouldnβt be too terrible as Iβve handled the stuff before; that being said, I wanted to make sure to have all the materials ready for the time I get some fruits and was afraid of shipping times. Got everything ready to go by a trip to the grocery for the no pour . I will get legit petris at some point!
