Like this. One layer over the top. One under. Then put the ring on. Boom done

I have the lid the correct way but either way will work.

Josex told me to try it with the poke method, he said he's gotten it to work. I haven't tho

Question, Iβm about 6 days into my first monotub grow (BRF cakes to coco coir), realizes that I didnβt make my substrate super even. Seems to be colonizing well, no pin set yet. Is it too late to make the substrate even? Using Bodβs in modified tub.

Even with out the picture I'd say yes you dont wanna mess woth the sub if it's already colonizing it will lead to a moldy tub more then likely... but you can try to upload the picture and post it so we can see what's up

Think I fixed it. Let me know what you think, thanks! Figure leaving it alone is best. It's not terribly uneven but I realize I should've made it flatter.

You can add a casing or top layer but dont mess with that surface.

Will that help make an even pinset? I have some hydrated coco coir leftover still sitting in a bucket, would that be ok to use if I did that?

Dunno Tbh Iβve never done it or worried about uneven tubs. I know it will hide any surface contamination, but also makes for a better microclimate for pinning. The cour will be fine to use if you decide to try it

Ahh ok. This is my first attempt at growing and I think I'm getting a bit paranoid about it, hah. Is it otherwise looking ok to you?

Yeah listen to ayeplus that looks really good besides how choppy it is next time take some pride in your work and you wont have to worry about it...
The pockets will creat microclimates for the pins so you will get more pins in those areas but mushrooms like to grow so if it's a descent culture you should get shrooms every where given the right conditions

Looks good but hard to tell from through the plastic, might need a light misting but again hard to tell from the outside and IME better to lean towards to dry side of things, especially in my wet ass climate, I use about 1/4-1/5 less water than most. 6 days is a pretty quick colonization, should start knotting any day now

Right on. Went from a spore syringe from a shroomery recommended vendor (dunno if I'm allowed to name vendors and such here) so hopefully all good!
And definitely will make flatter next time, I tried to find out exactly how flat to make it but couldn't find a good answer when I realized I didn't know the answer to that question in the middle of making the tub!

Thanks! The coir still seems about the same color as when I started it, the sides of the container that have substrate up against it are all beaded with water, as is the top of the lid. Hoping to see that soon. Thanks for the reassurance!

Yeah it helps to be as flat as possible but the pockets do help microclimates but given good conditions the whole tub is a microclimate you know ?? Yeah dont drop sponsors names so you're right on
Get into agar it will save you time and money one syringe will make you a million lbs if you wanted Haha

Only advice I have is learn agar while your current projects are going so youβre next tubs can have more guaranteed success, also youβll be ready to clone any nice fruits from these tubs. Agar+cloning is the path to success in this hobby.
Edit: yeah what he said agar, agar and more agar
