I recorded the Josex poke for you as well, actually (and Pasty's EZLC). It'll just take me a bit to have the time to edit and upload or make gifs. I just use regular lids, although I did every variation in his Tek for the video series.
Sterilize LC solution with a RM quart jar, regular lid w/ SFD, and like 150-200ml. Sterilize syringe right-side-up in PC with water in it. Hold plate vertical, lightly stab the clean myc, and shoot into LC. Voila.
Where do you think you're going wrong? And why do you worry about lids?

I know how to do it, I worry about lids because I originally used plastic and it fucked me over. then I had the same shitty results with grain jar lids rubber side up. and only like 3/8 took

I think my issue is inoculation or lids

I would guess it has more to do with your technique & handling while innoculating than the lid type. I haven't had major issues with unscrewing or "unsealing" lids to innoc.
Maybe try a ship lid so you don't need to open it up?

I haven't attempted lc in a long time. but I think I kept trying to shake them causing the broth to make a wick up and under the lid. I'd like to use this stir plate I have laying around. anyone got a stir bar they'd barter me?

Cam,
You don't want to pour the plate "thin" so much as you want it "soft." That means more water/less agar than normal. This will help it break up easier because it's less gelatinous. You'll want to find a balance so that it breaks apart easy in the liquid, but has enough strength to be cut out. Munch's recipe should work.
Munch's 123 agar recipe is what I have been using (1 gram honey, 2 grams agar agar, 3 grams potato flakes, 1/2 cup water)
Could I just use 1/2 cup grain soak water, and 2 grams agar agar to make gain soak agar?
Pasty made comment I found of grain soak water agar aiding in recovery

idk what it is in cups, but I use 400ml of GW & ~8g of agar powder in one of those pour agar flasks.
I hear ya tryp, that could be the culprit as well. So far I been lucky with just some glass shards. If it's been a while, I bet your Technique has gotten better since then. Best of Luck.

most likely. last time I tried liquids was before I switched to primarily wheat. I tried oats again after getting spawn prep down and they aren't as bad as I remember so I might as well try liquids again too

I just cooked up some wheat to pop my wheat cherry. Its significantly cleaner than the milo my local farm feed has. Digging it.

What’s the legit price of wheat? Can you get it at feed stores?

I haven't seen any at the feed store. even if I did I would probably still get food grade from the bulk bins. it's 49/c per lb

Yes. In bulk it's about $1 more than oats for 50# at my store ($14). Milo was the same price as oats, and got 25# for like $6.50... I'm going to see if the small grain size creates better g2g inoculation points since there's going to be more for the same volume in a shake.

I can't imagine oats ever being difficult to prep. Shaper, be sure that you don't cook the milo for too long as they'll clump together after a bit.

Milo isnt much smaller then say wheat ... millet is really small grain ... I haven't got a chance to use milo yet but I have a 50 pound bag ... my store wheat is 12.99 and milo is 13.99 oats 16

When I was posting, I realized I was initially thinking of millet. But I thought milo was also pretty small as well? Unless I'm thinking of sorghum? Never rocked wheat. Pretty sure I remember my strained-WBS clumping after 2 hours at 15-17PSI, IIRC. Millet absolutely does. I'll take it out of the PC after 60 to shake up and redistribute the moisture. Thanks to PW for that trick.

Milo is 9.53 for 50#, where I live. Its easy and quick to prep.
Milo and sorghum are the same

Did some googling. . .

So, yeah milo=sorghum (news to me). Oats are the far right on this image. Millet directly to the left of oats, then milo is the white one near the middle (4th in from the right).
It's still smaller than oats, but twice+ the size of millet. That hull is big on them oats...
I did get milo and millet confused ... damnit.
Oh well, it'll still get put to good use.

You should try wheat stare i haven't looked back since ... the wheat in my opinion is easier to prep and get moisture perfect... damn 9.50 for a bag is sweet
I noticed when I soaked the milo it seemed to still be hard even after a 36 hour soak ? I went on vacation before ei could use it though .. is it better to boil the milo first or ??
