Ya good point on the drying out Trypt.
Looks like I may have to go junk yard diving after seeing that Nate. ATM I use one of those strainers ya get in those cat pans that are suppose to make it easy to clean,,,, yeah right,, the clumps would fuse in the grates. I just stapled a screen in it and repurposed it for straining grains. Holds only 10qts worth though.

You should have a Gas exchange hole punched in the lid it'self. Drill it, put a couple nail holes in it, I use a 3/8 leather punch for quick and easy hole making. Allot of folks just flip the lid rubber side up but I personally like it sealed around the lip making the GE hole the place of least resistance for gas exchange.

I'd rather be able to take my lid and ring off all at once than have to pry the lid off

Most growers here me included were disappointed in plastic grain jar lids I can't put my finger tho on why I didn't like them.

Surely there is a number of people who don't like them but there is a lot of growers here who have used them for years. I don't use unmodified ones anymore, but with a piece of SFD mine have held up for many grows

I dislike them because I like to take jars out when they're still hot for the next load. Plastic lids are loose and malleable at this point and tightening them makes them insanely difficult to get off after they cool down.
I also prefer to handle regular lids by far. It's easier for me to G2G by holding both regular lids in one hand than a bulkier plastic. All of mine have an SFD and I've never experienced the spikes in contams with them that others have; just prefer others.

I can't remember, do you use a hood or SAB? The only time I like plastic lids are when I'm inoculating LI with a syringe. It's easier to wipe down and unscrew 5 plastic lids and go down the line lifting and squirting than with regular.

I have a hood and yeah using a syringe is a pain for sure I had barely just started using LC right before my break ... but it did help speed things along less then a week for a master of spawn rather then 2 on agar masters yuo know

Heh, yeah. I've only done A2G a handful of times. Started off learning LI and have used that almost exclusively. A2G is agonizingly slow and pouring liquids is just as easy as anything else for me, so Agar > LI > G2G is what I do.
Have you checked out the Josex poke?

Dude, check it out. It's revolutionary, IMO, and makes LC as easy as possible. Essentially it's poking a plate of clean myc with a syringe and shooting that into an LC solution. Like the easiest way to transfer and such a small piece, it's easier to get a clean transfer.

I run a small piece of white electric tape over the edge of the ring and across a section of the lid, so that the 2 pieces come up together and I can work without fumbling or laying the lids down to drop wedges

Why would you have to lay the lid down to drop a wedge anyway? Do you mean lay the ring down?
