You could line in the inside of the fan box with MDF if sound was an issue. We used to use MDF to make sound dampening fan boxes back in the days of the closet maid grow box.
Yeah that shit is extremely dense, just compressed sawdust with a binder really, hence why it has good characteristics for sound enclosures. Not saying it doesn't have valid uses, just hate working with it, lol.

Been a while since I've updated you guys! Got some agar started, how do these clones look? All ready to go? Or should I wait a little longer / make transfers. Thanks!

Yeah, or dealing with it's magical growth properties if it touches a single drop of water
I feel you, that stuff is evil.

I was reading about stone producers making stones on the plates and RR said the best culture would produce at least 4. Has anyone actually experiences this?
Does anyone grow them in the dark?

Most just keep the lid snapped until pinset development, or they reach the lid and need dubtubbed... use another shoebox turned on top of the substrate to complete a humidity chamber: no modification needed

Does anyone have any experience with the Stropharia Cubensis Cuban strain? I can't find much about this strain... Just that it came from Cuba originally and can have huge fruits.

Stropharia is no longer the genus cubensis belongs to. They are now psilocybe cubensis and have been for awhile, a 'strain' is actually what a live culture of a single set of genetics is called. The variety 'cuban' is simply the lineage of a cubensis fruit harvested in Cuba... It's just a normal cube. What info were you looking for?

..Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I was on this site; it looks hella old.. http://www.stainblue.com/cubensis.html
I was just looking for cultivating info and how the trip is, I guess all cubes grow pretty much the same from what I've read. I might be coming up on some spawn from another cultivator, I asked the strain and all they told me was stropharia cubensis cuban.. Sounded kind of suspect so just clarifying. Thanks yo!

Start here for all cultivation info: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24297804
A cube is a cube for potency, so trips will be similar across the board, with some genetic variance.

I know this was back a bit, but responding now to shroomawayer's post on agar to grain testing. I am super interested in why my LI is so slow to colonize my rye berries. I worked to make my malt agar petri dishes be just wet enough to break up in my blender, but also be ropey. But it takes 6 days for the LI to leap off, (two days for the lil agar bits to leap off)

Sounds like bacteria and/or too much per jar

I'm using 4 quart myco bags. About 1/4 agar disk in 25cc's of LI. the berries are quite dry 46% water content. They are growing out fine after they get going. Doesn't look bacterial.

i have a 5 gallon bucket containing milo from a feed store. its about 1/4 volume infested with weevils(?) grain eating bugs. im noticing my grain spawn is going to shit with clean cultures. would you bother increasing your pc time from 90 minutes or just switch grains?
