I mostly use effluent from grain prep, to which I add in 20g agar, 14 g dextrose and 2g yeast per litre.
I absolutely hate dealing with liquid malt extract, can't find died malt extract, and couldn't be bothered with boiling up potatoes anymore.

im a little confused someone said you want to shoot for around 2% nutrition
if 1 gram equals 1 ml, wouldnt you only need 1 gram of nutrients for 500 ml ? or is that completley off lol

2g of nutrients and 2g of Agar for every 100ml of water is standard. That's 2%

Nutrition is provided by the effluent - also known as grain soak water (GSW). My grains are oats, and in prepping them, a bit of the grain's nutrients end up into the water they are boiling in. I keep some of that liquid to use for LC and agar.
Your math is off. 1g in 500ml is 0.2%. 10g in 500ml is 2%.
In my recipe, dextrose is 1.4%. The effluent/GSW is 2%-5% sugars.

I've been messing around with cubes growing in 4 quart rye berry bags... and I thought it was a fluke... but wrapping a bag in bubble wrap not only nearly eliminates condensation on the bag wall, but it also speeds early growth (before there is even much condensation). All these bags are identical. Noc'd with 1/4 of a agar disk in LI. Pretty cool. I'm going to begin prepping my Rye wetter to see if it can now handle it without getting sweaty and bacterial. (these are at 46% water content) (about 10 days in)

im pretty sure i made mine to rich last time and i got really slow and tomentose growth is that common....i think i used like 6 grams mea and 3 to 5 grams agar to 300 ml water (i am keeping notes now)
If you go below in my signature there is a link to a grow post. In it you will find a Agar section. Personally, MEPYAC is my favorite also because of how awesome white mycelium looks on black agar. But there's a link on that page to more recipes then I could possibly make.

Can someone tell me what's going on here ? These are standard MEA plates with AA+ on it. They look strange. Plates for my other two varieties looks fine.
Btw, this is one of those plates 23 days later. It grows so slowly, just like all my other plates.

What Agar recipe are you using?
Those plates do not look healthy to say the least.. I'm not 100% sure what ya got going on there. 23 Days is a very long time for a plate. Especially to only be colonized that much.
Also it looks like you made transfers. Were the previous plates healthy?

I have multiple notebooks since around 2012. There are endless pages where I had to add red sticky notes annotating that this information was outdated and useless.

You can see why I cased these boxes, the top was looking awfully dry. That continues to be the case, but without misting heavily the casing is now wetting out. Especially so around the edges but it's creepnig into the middle slowly. Of course you can see pins. The pins are starting to pop up all over the place, hard to see because of the casing.
I've never noticed this happening before. All three of my boxes are doing this.

That is high as shit imo. I do 7-10g agar and 6-7g mea per 500ml

@Legitimate itch all of those plate are mold cultures and i would toss them.
@christopera all the shoeboxes ive done this winter shat out on me. Its dry as shit here. Full modified monos have been doing great. But in a good season post colonization with a top layer i need to mist shoeboxes daily. Yet in this dry winter my monos still have amazing surface conditions

I thought I wrote down the exact amount of water to coir but it turns out I don't see it in my notes. I did cooler tek and followed Bods tek closely. From memory, I only used half a brick of coir and then like 8 cups of boiling water, but I could be off on that. I measured the coir by weight and measured water accordingly. For field capacity. a hard squeeze produced a dribble. Not a run, not a slow drip. Right in the middle. Relative humidity had to be low, like really low. It's a small grow space with an electric heater and thermostat, no humidifier, but temps have been well below 0F. The room at large is forced air heat, very dry as well. The top layer was drying out in a matter of hours even with lids snapped tight. It took me a while to get the temp and air exchange for the grow space dialed in but I think it's better now. That's why I cased. I do think i got the sub a little too wet because the top was drying so fast and I was over misting, but i've cut back misting big time in the last 10 days. Now I am at the point you see in the photo.
