Those things are true about distilled water yes, but if he's getting water from a well it doesn't sound like access to tap water is a thing, the easiest solution I can think of is rain water (I will admit I forgot about snow for a second there), but I'm sure fresh snow could be used in a similar way by bringing it indoors to melt.

Anyway, my main point was that distilled water is not a dangerous substance to humans or fungi (where did that even come from?) and that rain water may provide a cheaper, easier alternative to distilled/bottled without the single use plastics.

I have a pint of re spawn that recovered in 12hr with leap off in 24 yet now that it's fully colonized it has some bactrrial goop. I'll get a pic when I get up, but would you expand it?

So, where do you all source your coco coir? I'm going to PetCo right now, and while this works, I'd rather pay less and buy in bulk so I have some ready to go. I no longer use a full brick at a time either, so I'd also prefer bigger "blocks" of it to break down to my needs.

I live in a city, so general "Feed and Fleet" stores aren't easy for me to get to. Any pro-tips?

Thats really not cheaper, 8 bricks is $16 through chewy ($6 for 3) and smaller bricks are way easier to handle. I hate hydrating those big bricks.

@Caps

Minus the 4 clones the tall shroom was 1.86g dry.  Total was 11.9g dry and I probably ate 3-4g wet.  A couple of the taller shrooms did have hollow stems.

I just purchased 12 three packs for 55$ with recurring payment,
from chewy. And it's exa Terra plantation soil which I like better then eco earth. It's the same price too.

12 is the highest number prompt you can select when ordering though 🤷‍♂️

Chewy is my goto.Like yesum says, set up recurring payment.(can be canceled after they ship your order)
I've lucked out and got it on sale from there for $4 a 3pack in the past.
Also I think chewy has a first time customer coupon for like 20% off.
But,now that you mention petco.Petco will price match chewy and other online sources if that works out better.

petco will not match online prices in store, in my experience they refused. And had their 3 packs of eco earth for $9 :frown:

Quick question. If using vacuum sealed freezer bags for colonization, why couldn't you use an anti bacterial band aid over a small hole for ge. I think it would hold up to pc well and completely seal, not to mention super easy and cheap for di

You can, however, order online and pick up in store. It's $6 for 3 bricks, so same as chewy. My order was ready same day.

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/reptile/reptile-substrate-bedding/zoo-med-eco-earth-compressed-coconut-fiber-expandable-substrate

And if you get lucky, like me, they forget to mark it as picked up, and you get your money refunded

There's an edit feature at the top right of your posts... no need for multiples lol... problems with a bandaid include the following IMO:

Really not sure about the PC

The sides of the padded area are often open

It's not self-healing, so the needle puncture would present a vector... though a strip of micropore tape would remedy this... there in, if you've got micropore tape,  stab the bag directly and tape over the puncture with micropore
