Tomentose fruits fine IME, but I only use it when the color and thickness are uniform... I don't care for the second and last cultures... but that's just me... first one isn't too bad, but I don't like how it's going transparent near center... I'd suspect you've got too high nutrients, how are you mixing agar?
PE looks great so far IMO

To 500ml of water? I've been using less and less dry ingredients: I'm down to 3.5g agar and 5g LME... I like to use the softer agar to inoculate with bc it basically liquefies on the shake, effectively a safer alternative to LC

I usually only use soft agar for spore germination. I hate when agar sometimes sticks to the blade, so for the most part I make it stiff. Unless Iβm pretty high my hands can get kind of shaky so thatβs also factor. Lol

substrate keeps coming out dry after pasteurization in sealed jars. wtf, I swear I've grown before. I guess the only thing that could be causing this is dry pockets in the sub
but I mix so thoroughly

That sounds strange man. I pasteurize in jars without lids that I just cover with foil and I am doing 2 hours.
Would like to see some pics of this because I gotta weird fascination with seeing people's water content bc I'm always so paranoid about mine.

I was using wood fuel pellets so I figure I must not have let them soak/disintegrate long enough.
But I'd had this happen with a manure based sub the other day too so I dunno. After spawning I misted them both until they looked wet enough so any pics wouldn't reflect this.
Hopefully this isn't begging for contam to add tap water after spawning, maybe I should've boiled the water but eh, seemed like it should be fine

So I got a squirrel cage fan from a 2.5 ton hvac unit... it has 3 speeds, but I'm not sure what cfm I'm dealing with... this thing is pretty big; is it too much you think? I can likely put a speed controller on it still can't I?

I wouldn't use any hot water though...like if you are growing some tropical species and think "bet they'd like a warm mist". Only from the cold tap. Hot water pipes can be nasty.

Hot water is for showers, washing hands, and washing dishes. Cold filtered tap water is for everything else.
I need hot water during cooking it's filtered cold tap water into the electric kettle

Hey guys. Been a couple years, just started my first APE grow. Any advice on this one? Do they like more water? Case, coir top layer, neither? Thanks!

I've read they're thirsty, and Nate kills the APE with coir top layer at spawn... cleaning up a culture to give it a run myself... think I'll drop a T1 plate to grain and try my luck while T2 transfers grow out a bit

I wrap my no pours. Sometimes the lids can be pretty loose after youβve ran them a few times. Personal preference I guess.
