I don't need a full sterilization cycle. Just enough to melt that shit. Anyone know the melting point of agar?

About 185 but if you're just melting...

If you stick a bottle of solidified agar into pot of boiling water its going to take a good hour or longer to fully melt. Microwave that shit

I do 25% power for 4x longer, you get a nice an even heat, rather than partially melt, some of it boiling.

I have a pour top on that makes it too tall for the microwave. The lid to this pour top was on the bottom of my sab and my hands went over it so i feel safer getting it up to atleast 5 psi. Imma vent it for 15m and see if that works

How can you see what pressure your PC has if you have no gauge.

I realized that my old PC must be responsible for my failures because theres no way I'd have screwed up 40 jars otherwise. I had mushrooms growing on every agar dish except about 3% of them.

I wan't to find out if PC is to blame.

What's the weight rated for? Should be written on it somewhere... if you're getting steam, you're getting the labeled psi... add 30 minutes to your run time and see if it clears up the issue

The gauge is basically useless. The rocker/weight/toggle regulates pressure. Whatever psi your cooker is set for is what it gets to.

If your contamination is mold your PC is absolutely not the problem as molds die well before sterilization temperature (170F kills nearly every species of fungi/mold known)

Have a look at the bottom, it should be stamped on there somewhere (1.1bar or 15psi, or not if it's not a 15psi model). I think it's the law (certainly in the EU anyway) for pressure vessels to be stamped with the working pressure.

Hello - wondering y’all could tell me if you think this box needs more moisture- plenty of condensation on the sides, but I noticed today that the substrate is pulling away from the ends - could be due to mycelium growth but just wanna get your opinions.  Trying to water once a week if necessary.

Sub is quite thin, will lose water rapidly... shrinking is normal as the culture consumes water and nitrients... condensation indicates nothing more than a higher temp inside than outside the tub and will occur even if your sub is dry... monitor surface conditions, want a glistening dew, allowing evaporation to occur between mistings to stimulate pinning and avoid over-saturating the substrate ... mycelial growth on the fruit indicates insufficient FAE... may end up needing to bottom water midflush so the substrate can finish supporting the pinset to maturity

Spend some of your free time reading up on the organism you're propagating: metabolic mechanisms and such... pretty cool stuff and will answer a lot of your questions about condition requirements

For sure, I’m learning so many things and different ways to cultivate.  I’m hoping I can stick with this one way and master it to fully understand growing conditions.  I know this forum has a lot to offer, but I do need to get more involved in the science surrounding all aspects of proper cultivation.

Sounds like you have read outdated info. You don't need $160 worth of filters. You don't need supersonic misters. You don't need aquarium pumps. What do you currently have growing?
