So you don’t think it matters how long they’ve sat?  It must have contamination?

Overconsolidated cube spawn can be hard to break up.  Ganoderma is just much better at digesting the grain and replacing it with mycelium and it does it very quickly.

Thanks for the input guys!

I’ll try to get those jars shaken and used in a more timely manner and not be a wimp lol. One jar of AA+ I have is a bit wet so maybe I won’t bother with that one just to be safe but the other I’ll sterilize something to poke in there and break it up I guess.  Not confident in this but not sure what else to do.

As long as you’re not spawning to sterilized sub that isn’t coir, you can dig it out with a knife without issue.  Spawning to unsterilized sub is an unsterile affair.

:whathesaid:
I've dug out over consolidated grain with a wooden spoon and spawned it.
I wouldn't recommend a g2g with it tho.
Sometimes I roll a towel up and (carefully)lay it on the arm of the sofa and thump the jar on it.
Had one slip outta my hand and bust on the living room floor tho,so that's a no go here now.

The plates I've been using come in stacks of 10. Last night i opened them both with intent of pouring them both. But when I finished one there was a ball of solid agar in the middle if my jar. I went to go heat it back up in the pc. I figured a 10 min vent cycle should suffice. But when i turned off the pc i didnt wait I just went straight to bed  my pour lid doesnt fit in the microwave. How long do you think it takes to melt agar in the pc on high?

Also. Are the blank unpoured plates that have been sitting in my sab still good?

I think you could reheat in a pan of water on the stove.

Another reason I do Pasty style pp5s. I let them cool in the pc overnight all the time. Use, wash, reuse, repeat. Been using the same containers for over a year

I dont like the lack of visibility. Ive left pasty plates in the dust. I like regular petris for cleaning and pasty plates for germination and expension of already clean cultures
