I owned most of these before I ever knew what mycology was, also PCs and dehydrators, even bags of perlite and junk. I've got more hobbies than sense.

I have a noob question. I was hurrying a batch through the dehydrator to get the last batch in before I left over the holidays. Everything seemed cracker. So I put them in jars with the lids cracked and left. I was gone for 2 days and came back that one batch was super blue and damp. It smells super strong like shrooms and I want to know if they are typically safe to re-dehydrate and store?

Why are you leaving the lids cracked? Store them in tightly closed, unmodified jars

Dehydration is going to result in something like 0 - 9% water content, so even your house is dry AF, it's probably still re-hydrating them a bit. My house has central, forced air heating and it's still like 20 - 50% RH in here.

With a hammer? And unless your rh is 0, (it's not) they need kept air tight... air also oxidizes actives and will affect potency over time

I beleive so but also I think I just get busy and leave them too long. I think that also causes them to get too solid.

Check out my post here
And ensuing conversation. Was just talking about something similar in another thread. Glad I'm not crazy.

I don't think it'd matter much in an air tight container... unless it were a small amount in a large jar... idk lol

Not necessarily. Bacterial rot is more of a concern.

Im not sure consolidation makes cube spawn more solid. It definatly does with ganodermas.
I wouldn't g2g a jar that i couldn't just shake apart without hitting it against something
