I'm starting to think I should have done only a few quarts in front of my flowhood and waited to see what happens. I just did 30 quarts
as long as the filter is actually legit tested at 99.99% at 1000cfm then it's all good, but I did get it off ebay from a non-official seller so who knows. Seemed brand new.. I just can't imagine losing 30 quarts knowing I could have used my SAB until I could know for sure

My PC fits 7 quarts. I just run it over and over and then do all the jars inoculation at once. It's easy to do 3-4 cycles a day while I'm just lazing around the house.
I have bought 72/144 quart jars I'm planning to. Over the next week I will buy the rest, and then be PCing another 112 or so.
I'm going crazy for the winter This is what happens when you take a 10 year break from mycology
I got a 25kg bag of oats and then found out wheat is half the price. Wish I knew that before hand I think I like wheat better. Been getting small clumpage with oats.

Started my first bulk grow today. Once it cooled and I mixed in the spawn, I put it into a garbage bag and put it in the cupboard. Should I just check on it in a week or so? Or will contams show sooner? Its 1:1 coir&verm

The photos are when I had the boiling water in, when I drained it I also squeezed all the excess water out into a strainer and returned it to field capacity.
Super excited!!

Looks like this Caerulescens clone LC came out clean and aggressive! This is after about 38 hours.

What’s left of the LC. Think I’ll use it to inoculate 3 more jars and give a monotub a shot.

I've been inoculating bags in my SAB like this lately. Probably going to drill holes in the lid soon enough for a permanent one.

I like jars Might be because I've Never even used spawn bags but I bought 25 and they are here now. I am gonna try them out soon but was still trying to look up information on best practices for sealing them, and what steps to take when loading them, etc. I had read some teks where people were using a a polyfil or tyvek vent while PCing so that any air that is pulled back into the bags is clean. But then other people just seem to fold the tops down and then just do them in front of a flow hood and seal them after the fact.
You got any tips or advice, or links to any good teks on bags?
I don't mind running the PC continuously, I don't have to pay much attention, but it still would be nice to do 20quarts at once. I really wanna get bags going for my oysters.

Nevermind I see the link now to Frank's bag tek in your previous post. Looks like he does do the tyvek thing.
I need to get some tyvek and give this a go

Whether you can seal it pre-PC has to do with the filter patch size, IIRC. The smaller micron ratings won't work as the bag will inflate and pop or some shit. 5 micron can be sealed (not to be confused with .5 micron).
You use Tyvek sleeves to filter the air and create a seal when the PC cools as you noted. I'm far from an expert on bags having recently started with them, but I've done both Tyvek sleeve and folding the bag like this. Both have worked, but I don't have enough runs under my belt to comment much on no-filter. Filter is easy, just buy the sleeves or cut up a Tyvek suit.
Make sure you run them for longer than regular grain jars and provide spacers between the bags and PC so steam penetrates easier.
