Yeah slideable doesn't have the indent on the top or bottom in which I prefer so when I have poured molten agar, I slide the top 10 off carefully instead of lift or tilt so the media doesn't slosh around when I move them to my rack in my SAB.

They are pretty stable and even more so once the para film is on.

Is it normal for PE to take over 2 weeks to show knotting/pinning?  I don't have knots yet in my tubs and it has been 14 days.  The growth looks very healthy in all the tubs, though, and they have been fully colonized for almost a week.  I have done APE before successfully but not PE so I am used to seeing pins within 10-ish days.

Yes.  Right about when you're ready to give up...pins.

Hey folks, check Ace Hardware if you have one in your area for cheap WBS.  It is on sale for $5 for 20lb and the quality of their WBS is much better than many other brands I have tried.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25646085#25646085

I have managed to conclude that Cubensis targets phenols (lignins are cross-linked phenolic polymers, polyphenol).
It also targets and decays cellulose for glucose, and nutritional proteins for carbon and nitrogen.

There is a fairly large array of phenols, most or all seem to oxidize (decay to oxygen).
In comparison to Oyster and Trich, Cubensis produces browning.

====

Baeocystin:  [C11]--[H15]--[N2]--[O4]--[P]
Norbaeocystin: [C10]--[H13]--[N2]--[O4]--[P]

Psilocybin:  [C12]--[H17]--[N2]--[O4]--[P]
Psilocin:  [C12]--[H16]--[N2]--[O]

From above:

"Psilocybin is a tryptamine compound with a chemical structure containing an indole ring linked to an ethylamine substituent. It is chemically related to the amino acid tryptophan, and is structurally similar to the neurotransmitter serotonin."
"Psilocybin is a member of the general class of tryptophan-based compounds that originally functioned as antioxidants in earlier life forms before assuming more complex functions in multicellular organisms."

"Psilocin is relatively unstable in solution due to its phenolic hydroxy (-OH) group. In the presence of oxygen it readily forms bluish and dark black degradation products"
"Most species of psilocybin-containing mushrooms bruise blue when handled or damaged due to the oxidization of phenolic compounds"
"Psilocin is broken down by the enzyme monoamine oxidase. Some psilocin is not broken down, and forms a glucuronide"

Notes:

Nor-baeocystin are analogs of psilocybin, meaning single or various elements are added or removed.
It appears they can be phosphorylated or dephosphorylated (cleaved, added, a cycle?).
All four compounds contain carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen.

Serotonin:  [C10]--[H12]--[N2]--[O]

====

To produce more antioxidants (actives), the mycelium will need carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus, and have an oxygen rich environment.
Antioxidants are produced by mycelium in response to oxidative stress, mycelium also utilize oxygen to decay materials.

The antioxidants allow the mycelium to utilize oxygen to a certain level without damaging it's self.

Really like the way these APE plates are starting off!  Looks like two different phenotypes.  Would you recommend one over the other?

Here are the plates:

This one is a T1 on GSA from 11/28.

This one is a T2 on DFA from 12/01 ~ Really impressed with the growth on the DFA but can’t see through the bottom.  Am I doing something wrong?

I can actually see very mild browning, hopefully oxidation, on the DFA, it's also much thicker, what DF are you using?
If I was to 'experiment' I would add some MG (0.04g per 200g of water) for additional nitrogen-other.

In my tests the added nitrogen-other caused growth to push out much better.

Are you referring to the shade from the transfer at the 5 o’clock position?

I’m using what I feed my dogs, Pure Balance.  What is MG?

Lower your nutes and youll see better rhizo growth. I bet that culture will crawl across the surface from having so much nutes to chew on.

Idk if that's necessarily the case.

I often get more rizo and faster growth on stronger plates..

I have some PEU that looked like that off of T1... 9:500ML MEA. Maybe I'll dial it back.
The only other nute I have right now is potatoD., and my cubes don't tend to like that.

When i used to make my agar I would make it by the liter 1000ml 18 grams agar 12 grams lme depending on what I was doing I would go more agar less notes or vice versa or more on both ... but most of my cultures got the first recipe and this was about t7 off spores

Does this work for buffering in peat casing for PE? Its lawn lime... And the second type of lime I picked up... Everyone talks about hydrated lime though.

Also, does anyone have a good weight ratio for PE casing?

Idk about that either, here is 4% plate still growing stronger and faster than the 2%, not by much but still

Until someone does thorough side by side experiments with many different clones, the topic will remain debatable imo.

I feel like I'm gonna order a shit load of petris soon, and make a new SAB.

I've done enough of these kinds of side by sides with clones on MEA, BRF, DFA, and Idk what to tell you. I expected mostly one kind of results like I'm reading about all the time but the other was more true for me almost every time.

Next time I'll document everything and do more

i prefer boogies 1.2% look over your 2% Mateah. the 4% looks weird to me. whats goin on in the center of both cultures? it looks like there was no growth at all until mid plate. maybe my eyes are bad.
