I found an old grain jar of mine that I never cleaned out after spawning back in late March. There are still a couple colonized grains in the jar which I'm very excited about because it's a culture I no longer have spores for and it is pretty freakin' hard to find!

How likely do you think it is that I could put an 8 month old, dried up grain to agar and get it to grow out? I'm going to try it either way, I'm just wondering how high I should get my hopes up lol.

Not at all. It's my go to.... Although sometimes I make them at .25 grams per square. These are .5.

Each bar contains 144 grams chocolate, 12 grams magic and a dollop of coconut oil. I separate 1/3 of the chocolate to leave for seeding beta crystals, melt the other 2/3rds in a double boil, remove from water just before everything is melted, mix in seeding chocolate and stir until fully melted. At this point I'd normally follow legit tempering instructions but I didn't this time as I didn't have a suitable thermometer. So I just kinda eyeballed the tempering. Mix in the magic, stir nicely, pour into molds, slam on table a few times, giggle it to get the chocolate evenly distributed and allow to cool at room temp. Then take them to the bar and get erry body super sparkly.

You can temper chocolate in the microwave without fuckin' around with seeding, coconut oil or a thermometer: put your chocolate (semi-sweet) in a plastic bowl (glass retains heat too well and could mess up the temper and metal will burn yo house down), microwave for 30 seconds, pull it out and stir, another 30 and stir, 15 seconds and stir, mix in magic and mix as well as you can, 10 more seconds and do your best to get it into the mold. The reason it works is because the chocolate never gets above the temp where the crystaline structure is broken, thus, never taking it out of temper. Cheers!

My last batch of chocolates were 1.75g of PE blobs per square. Took a couple squares to Phish in Phoenix and got like 5 people faced lol

So you're sayin' theres a chance! lol thanks for pointing me to your experiment, I'm excited to see how that turns out!

I'll drop a couple grains to different plates in a few days and see what happens. Hope it works!

OK. Just did it. The "do your best to get it into the mold" part was my least favorite. I think I'd rather just temper. If I were just making one or two and gave no fucks how evenly the doses came out, I'd be fine with the micro method. But wouldn't for larger batches.

Ah shit I hope I didn't give you bum advice or cause you to screw up any bars. I only ever make 6 bars at a time so maybe that's why I can tolerate smooshing the chocolate dough into the molds. I'll try the double boiler and seeding method next to see if it works better and see which one I like better so I'm not tempted to give out bad advice again.

Well I'm about out of hope for this culture that has all but gone fucking extinct apparently. I have a media bottle full of mycelium that I'm assuming is dead - I took two sterile swabs, dipped them in to grab a clump of myc and swabbed a plate each, mostly to test its cleanliness but hoping to get some clean growth to work with. Not a damn thing has grown in 2 weeks (I guess it's good to know that it wasn't contaminated at least lol). Then I got excited as all hell because I found some old grains of it, plopped about 6 onto a plate expecting mycelium to jump off the grain and it hasn't done a damn thing in a week.

I did only lay the grains on top of the agar, maybe I should have smashed them into the plate better. I still have a few grains left that I'll smash into a new plate but damn this is frustrating...

:fuckyeah:

Not the best picture but I clearly should have waited an extra day before annoying everyone on here lol. One of my 8 month old, forgotten about and dried up spawn grains has sprouted! Now I should just need to take a couple transfers and send it to grains again.

I've got some year old vacuum sealed chocolates in my freezer right now that have lost absolutely zero potency - still 1/2 square face melters  :awesomenod:

I also have gummy bears both in the fridge in a ziplock and on my counter in a mason jar I'm testing. So far after 3 months neither have lost anything.

There is no convincing me that ants are not aliens. There's one species of ant that the ONLY WAY it can reproduce is by hatching from inside a fucking rabbit. So, they somehow acquire/create a toxic parasite and impregnate themselves with it, hang on the tips of grass blades, wait to get eaten by said rabbit so the parasite can kill the rabbit so they can hatch...

HOW THE FUCK DO THEY KNOW HOW TO DO THIS SHIT!?! Not to mention the MASS of ants on the planet outnumbers all other living organisms like 10:1 lol...fucking crazy

Is there a chocolates master thread?  It would be awesome to have everyone's tek in the same spot.  I'm still stuck at hand weighing every dose of powdered mushrooms and mixing them into each individual chocolate for a consistent dose.  I usually powder a couple hundred grams at a time and mix it so I can measure a consistent dose across a lot of chocolates.

I'm also done putting that much effort for very little return, so only novelty batches until I find a better method.

Chocolates and gummies are the only way I can consume anymore so I would also like to know about a chocolates/edible thread/subforum

Do those melt at room temperature with all the cocoa butter?

^^^ posting to see if it finally gets rid of this quote that's been stuck in my text box?..

Also though, what is the max temperature that psilocybin can tolerate without degrading/becoming inactive? I know it can go to 212F/100c since we can boil tea but I'm working on an edible idea that will reach higher temps

Does anyone know the temperature that 'deactivates' psilocybin? It's obviously greater than 212F since we can boil tea with no issues. I'm wanting to make some mushroom suckers/jolly ranchers but this requires temps up to 300F, which seems really high for the actives.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't really want to waste a couple ounces of dried fruit, but I guess if it's in the name of science I'll take one for the team
