Is 2lbs of rye too much for a 6 quart shoebox? I was wanting about 1:3 ratio
You could easily split a bag between 2 shoeboxes. Add 2-3 quarts of substrate and you're good to go.

You should assume that any LC is contaminated and verify it's cleanliness on agar before using it. Just because you paid someone for it doesn't mean that it's clean. If you're just going to inject LC it's not a big deal to use a SAB as you can leave the bag rolled up and just inject through the side - If you want to G2G to bags, a hood or FFU is pretty much required to be consistently successful.
Myers Mushrooms has good pricing on partial/full cases. T series bags are .2u filters - just pick the size that you want to run. 3T's are commonly used with 3-5lbs of spawn for tubs
<edit - corrected filter info>

That was my thoughts as well behind using hydroponic grade coco...better water holding ability and it breaks up and levels out after being spawned easier as well. Fuck that ultrafibrous hay sold as pet bedding.

I thought we were growing cubes, not pleurotus - got any studies specific to our desired species? Oysters have drastically different air needs than cubes, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were more sensitive to things of that nature.

The scaly texture on the fruits makes me think they have lecanicillium aka verticillium.

LOL...I only knew that one because I found some in potting soil a week ago and wanted to know what they were. Luckily it was pretty common mushroom and was easy to find via search engine using 'yellow mushroom potting soil' for a search.
Not sure how many could ID those only from a single photo and no other info, but if you fill out the template and post it in the mushroom hunting and identification section you'll probably get some assistance from trusted identifiers.

Depending on fruit density/cap size, 2.5 gallons should do it. If you have a bunch of fully opened caps it may require more volume.
