Ok. I have these GT plates...They looked different, I set them aside in November to see what would happen. I thought they might pin, I'd take a clone...whatever. Just checking it out.
Well nothing happened for almost 2 months and now I have what look like stones maybe. I can't get a good pic right now, but these knots are amber coloured and translucent.

Maybe they are pins? Maybe contam? I made the plate from a print I took.
Prob. get a facepalm, but can GT produce stones?

Hey e...The jars are 90MM lids and filters 1.9 liter. I guess the diameter is about 100MM?

A baking rack with shelves can be converted to a dryer easily. I think you can get a cover also for 'proofing dough"...

Just cloned up my first Shiitake yesterday..."Snowcap"...Stoked. Been growing them for 3 plus years, but had no agar skills...Feeling grateful for all the learning that happens here.

Seems like being able to shake them would stop any possible stalling or anything. Don't bags hold way more than a quart?
The width of the glass is the same for all jar sizes. As a result, using larger sized jars results in them being more likely to break from being shaken/beat against things after being PC'd a bunch of times. That's only some low odd percentage more of a risk as usual, and they can be used, but overall quarts fit better in a pressure cooker.
I like the 1.9 liter jars...I get 4 into my PC so an extra liter per run and I run 2:4, 2:6 so one jar per tray...I use them for G3 jars only though...

I can create a working cold weather shipping method if need be...I'll let you know how it goes...Sometimes starting cultures just can't wait. Reishi, Shiitake etc. Anyway...Have a good day all!

What variety am I looking at? I would say today, or within 24hrs. Lots of mutants, yum.
These are some GT...I wasn't sure if the mutants would produce a lot of spores...I like to harvest before I get too many spores released.. The mutant stems are wierd in the sense that the split, so I get a little rushed to harvest that sometimes in case its vert. Doesn't spread to the other fruits...Is that normal for the mutant stems to split or am I adding too much water?

It's not even a remotely bad outbreak, I only see a few spots here and there. Not a big deal with cubes cause they get dehydrated but if it happens to edibles people are unlikely to buy them. Not harmful to humans. The blotch looks very similar to the soft brown spots you see on bananas sometimes.
I've also had the black slimy caps (recent pe tub from not getting all the aborts and shit off.
Nice grow btw, they look pretty tasty
Thanks for the advice guys. I may be the problem with the moisture...I started fucking around with shit that should have been left alone....The usual. Mutants...Nomnomnomnom...

Mr Piggy said: I can get a pickup full of horse poo for free off craigslist. Check your local list to see what's out there.
Horse poo can be chock full of nasty chemicals. I have horses and many years experience with them. I also compost extensively...following the Canadian Organic Standard.
Things like wormers (Ivermectin etc.), Anti inflammatory drugs like "Bute", and others, anti-biotics... poison the shit. Bute makes horse meat unsafe for human consumption. So do wormers. I would be very cautious and thoughtful about whether those things might get into the mushrooms.
Organic farms are the place to get shit if you can...

Hey folks, I'm trying to find a source of culture tube caps. I have 25mmx150mm rimless tubes, and I'm looking for a specific cap that can be popped up for GE or pushed down for sealed. Polypropylene...Tried Fisher and Westlab so far, but they're very expensive... Any idea would be greatly appreciated...
