If you'r getting another one I highly rec upgrading to the coleman propane torch.
They will sterilize any tool in a matter of seconds or less.
And also definitely sterilize your tool if possible in the pc so they are nice and fresh for each use.

Yeah I've made them out of a number of containers(coolers 55 gal drums both insulated) using the stanley steamer and some thermometers with probes on cords to monitor internal temp of substrate.
they work great just yours looks more safe with that temp regulator?
I had to manually shut the steamer off when necessary to not over heat
edit:
anyway at least for cube cult, pasteurization and any substrate that needs it is way over rated.
Stick with cvg and a bucket. and possibly the oven for further cooking the coir.

How small of a hole can I get away with if using an sfd on a no pour such as a pasty plate or similar?
I know agar doesn't really need GE but since its a no pour they would get crushed in the pc unless there is some amount of GE.
How much is is necessary??

Ya for real how hard is it to wrap a q tip in foil toss in a jar and pc with whatever else you are sterilizing?
Anyway just realized I have received a couple extraordinary prints from members here through the marketplace in giveaways and really need to show my appreciation...
But I have no Idea how to leave a trade rating.
Any help?
and is it correct to leave a trade rating for a giveaway?

well I've found tubs before contammed well beyond when I should have caught them and the few fruits that were there were tall and skinny and a lot of them would fall over with just the slightest touch/movement. sometimes they had already fallen on their own as you said yours did.
I could see apparent green in my tubs so I don't think you have that much to worry about just keep an eye on it.

A SAB is no where to cut corners IMO, one of most important things you use. I was stubborn for the longest time using a 60 qt that had the lid on top and it was a major factor in my contaminations but I didn't want to believe it. Learn from my many failures bigger the better, 105 qt or better with large armholes like 5-6". So much more comfortable and less screwing around making mistakes because it's so cramped. SBJ's build is the shit.

NDStepp84 said: My problem with the lid on top other than upside down on a towel was when I moved a grain jar the plastic floor would flex up and down sucking air in and out of the armholes, seems like there was something else about it but I can't think of it right now
I totally agree even in my 105 qt sometimes I wish it were bigger and taller.
Definitely seen far less contam in the big one than my old small one and so much easier to work in.

So I made a batch of dog food agar and hopefully you guys know if it's fucked or not.
What I normally do with good results is mix dry ingredients, add water, stir or even wisk until all clumps of dry ingredients are gone, then bring to a boil, and finally pour into no-pour containers while stirring before pouring each plate.
This time I did everything the same except I forgot to stir the sediment in before pouring into each container.
Usually all the sediment is evenly distributed into all the plates but this time all the sediment stayed in the bottom of the pouring pitcher.
I ended up not using the very last of it as it was almost pure sediment.
As for the other plates, they all were much clearer than I'm used to with dog food agar and had more of the appearance of MEA.
Did I lose too many nutes by not stirring in the sediment or were most the nutes already suspended in the liquid during the boiling process?
I've read of people straining out the sediments in DFA but I'm not sure what process was done before (simmer, boil, soak, etc) in order to get the nutes out of the sediments.
Would love to use a couple of those plates today if anyone has some reassurance for me.

that's how I do it so I can keep the plate stable while I swipe it with spores and it makes it easier to see what I'm doing with lifing the plate vs the lid.
I also do this when cutting wedges from plates.
I like holding the plate rather than the lid because when cutting transfers I can be much more precise and don't have to hold the lid and the container at the same time or have to set the lid down to make a transfer.

When storing plates in the fridge, should I use one of those soft lunch boxes to insulate them and prevent temp fluctuations?
What kind of lunch box or other containers do you guys use?
If they are stacked up a few high will they be ok without insulation?
How long will a slightly thick poured plate last in the fridge before drying out?

Also maob you gotta get yourself at least a 23 qt presto if you wanna make good use of your time.
75 on amazoian https://www.amazon.com/Presto-01781-23-Quart-Pressure-Canner/dp/B0000BYCFU?th=1 if you got prime or 100 and free shipping at walmart online. I really feel the price is worth your time and effort being able to do more at one time. I use two of those at a time.
Or the AA 25 qt at least which are well worth the money (around 200$) as they'll last forever and have no gasket to fail or replace. Very well made.
love your diligence moab keep it up.

On another note, If I pick 1 or two mushrooms at the perfect time and I don't want to use a dehydrator for just 2 fruits would storing them in the fridge preserve potency the best until a larger batch comes in to dry?

what prep are you using?
Did you soak/boil all the wbs at once and are slowly pcing it over a long period of time or are you making each batch right before pcing it?
