Ime cakes do bruise from handling. It does seem to come out more when they've gotten dried though. I haven't seen a single bruise from misting.
I think of it a bit like, when it was so dry, it didn't even have 'enough blood to bruise' even if it wanted to. :broscience: :purespeculation:

Why do those numbers matter at all? You just want to go at an even 25,000?

I really don't get it. Why do you want more posts in OTD than in cult? I guess it's a personal thing. Well, we do like having you around Azur. But do what you gotta do.

I used to think/hope it was something to do with being a non native speaker. But, it's really stuck, so I'm not so sure.
Maybe they don't even realize what the name means, so don't put together that it's just a tub?

he means he wouldn't use less spawn than 1/5 the substrate (1pt. spawn : 4 parts sub)
Commercial growers often go as low as 1:10 for agaricus spp., but for us, 1:4 is really the lowest appreciable spawn ratio you'll want to use. I prefer around 1:1.5 or so.

I put it in the compost
Dumping in a dumpster that isn't yours to use can cause unnecessary problems if you're seen... sounds like more risk than is necessary.

Serotonin, you'll see one day. I realized one of my threads got like that. But if you're not a supporter, there's a cap to your total data used. So I had to delete pics to even upload new ones.
It is what it is.
I should specify, I was a supporter for a good while, just haven't been able to pay for that lately. So when I lost that status, I had to delete a bunch of stuff to upload anything

Totally. Save us from that 'slide up the blade' problem. Something like a backwards scissor snip would work well.

Sounds like victor in the q&a had the same idea "Does it come in a straight blade version too?"
The more I'm thinking of this, the more I think a trigger snip would be awesome. Probably even eliminate some of my contams.

so um, like… I keep getting satellites, but I feel like I'm doing everything the same. But satellites mean it's technique, right? Every time? I don't get it. I think it may have to do with my transfer samples riding up the blade, and me getting impatient trying to lay it on the new plate. But I dunno.
Should I try to just take larger transfers and see if that helps at all? This is getting pretty ridiculous. Some of these plates have sat unused for about a month and still appear clean. It's just really been driving me crazy.

so just dunking the whole scalpel in ISO? I was leaving it in foil after PC'ing it, but after a couple of transfers, it'd give me satellites again. Maybe I'll start using a glass of ISO to dip in before flaming. That may help.

So, but I started getting super careful. I usually use pastyplates and try and keep them upside-down for the most part. Especially being it's summer and my spore load is outrageous.
The lip of the plate is a good idea. I'll probably have to do that. I think it has to do with finagling trying to get the wedge off the blade. My clean x-fers don't seem to have it happen, but they get pretty crazy. I've been just about to pull my hair out. Things were going well here in the spring…
I know my technique has to be part of it. I will probably try to do a bunch of practice transfers from clean plates now that I have so much time off. Try and see what is really happening. Thanks, guys
I started thinking it had to do with my lazy pp cleaning, but the sterilized plates don't show any issues. Could it still be a filter fail? Like, once the foil comes off, and the plate breathes more?

It's double layer and the regular 3M brand. Hmmm. I'll probably change all the tape on the plates. I did notice one had a greenish hue by the GE hole. It's just so aggravating. Even plates I know I specifically couldn't hover over because they were upside down the whole time.
Literally the only things that've changed is, it's hot out, and I stopped cleaning the SAB with alcohol. It was making the water I spray dehydrate too soon. But that doesn't make sense, because the SAB doesn't need to be that clean, just still. I'm just gonna practice my ass off until I get the results I was getting before A/C season. And yes, the one vent in the room stays closed during work.
If only I had those transfer lids you were talking about… those sound pretty awesome actually.

I guess it's because my torch is a benzomatic, so it takes a little while to warm up the blade alone. I can't imagine flaming the handle so long it started to turn red. That would take forever. Or how hot are you talking about flaming the handle, supa? I remember you saying up to around the indent?

I should really have a few scalpels. I don't know why the hell I hadn't even considered that
How are you making loops, cronicr? The only one I made was guitar wire, but it was too floppy to be really useable. I remember someone using a bread bag tie. Do you just wrap it to a pen or something?

aren't those pretty thick though? You do transfers and everything with loops too? I kinda thought they were mostly for inoculation with spores.
