A good casing method?

Hello, so we all know the simple pf tek (we should at least). My question is how hard is it to case compared to using cakes. I've tried to read up on casing but see so many different ways and I just don't know what to follow. Plus alot of the contamination forums are on casing, is it harder to sterilize?
Thanks guys, any links or advice would be muchos appreciated. Thank you!!!

Casing is just sticking some typically inert media on top of your substrate, rarely would you sterilize it. When you roll a BRF cake in verm you're casing it.

I think it's possible OP means spawning to a bulk substrate.

I'm assuming youre talking about crumbling your BRF cakes and casing them in some sort of tray... Only because when I started out I happened to be reading a lot about "casing" myself.
I will tell you what I did based on this presumption. I got a sandwich container with a lid from the dollar store and put an inch thick layer of vermiculite at field capacity on the bottom. I then crumbled my cakes on top of the verm layer untill I had an inch thick layer of mycelium. I then added a 1/4 inch layer of vermiculite at field capacity on top of the mycelium layer. I placed the lid on the container and let the mycelium recover for a week. I then took the lid off and patched any spots where the mycelium started poking through with more moist verm. Then placed in my SGFC to fruit.

This was my first "casing"
The only thing it taught me was how important a really thick layer of verm is when rolling your cakes.

I never have read the pf tek, I went strain to grains. Hasn't held me up yet.
Here's a good link on bulk substrates, it covers casing.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/8231041
Esentially when your mixing your spawn & substrate, save an amount of substrate.
enough to cover the substrate with 1/4inch.
After you mix the spawn/substrate and level it evenly, apply the casing and you're done
Substrate casing for a 66qt tub is about two scoops with two hands. I use the damion5050 elementary coir tek for sub and casing.
Fruiting right away (putting polyfill in) like discribed in that link means that it's totally neglect until harvest about two weeks later.
