It looks more than ready lol. Give it some FAE and light and you'll have an excess of.mushrooms in a few days. It looks perfect!

Great, just stuffed it with polyfill and turned on the fan. I'll update this thread with fruits when the first flush comes.

Liner shouldn't be taped to the wall. The purpose of the liner is to stick to the substrate and pull away with it when it shrinks.

Yes, in time you'll start working to get your liners trimmed up as nicely and flush as possible, but looks ready to fruit for sure!
No casing this time?

You could have also just fruited instantly when spawning to bulk

Is it common practice to add a casing layer after colonization?

It helps to protect the cake. You can fruit uncased but you'll have to be more attentive towards humidity and spore drops. If you have a casing layer you can be more ''careless'' although I use that term lightly

For some reason I just thought people would normally add their casing layer after mixing their spawn and sub and before letting it colonize.

I think it all boils down to personal preference really rather than it being scientific.
For me I like to let it colonize and then cover it with hydrated vermiculite after it reaches full colonization. I like to keep tabs on it just in-case it runs through any problems

who cares right

I figure the sooner I put my top/casing layer on, the less shit gets between it and the substrate.

That is true but I work with MS, most likely it's already dirty from the get go anyway so I just try to watch out for bacteria/metabolites/signs of stress/trich or whatever

I've only ever cases my penis envy, but to my observation, the casing,Ayer provides an excellent platform for pinning.
As for colonization...I just stick with what I know. I might not be stretching the boundaries but I know xolonizing then casing at the point of fruiting works well for me. I planned on casing/fruiting one tub at the point of spawning this time but completely forgot about it at the point of doing it..,go figure

Well I was a bit hesitant to put on casing due to it being in the bucket at room temp for 9 days as of now. Would the casing still be good for that duration? It doesn't smell too odd. I was thinking of putting in more boiling water or running it through my microwave.
I don't think it's too late to put on a casing layer but I'm not sure if my casing is past the expiration date or not :\.

EDIT; I misunderstood your question. Here's the proper answer, it isn't too late to use the casing just bring it to field capacity and case the mono. I still would like to know what casing material you are using. With coir and verm you shouldn't have any trouble. Other materials like peat I am not really sure since I never used it

Coir and verm indeed, what do you mean by field capacity?
