It's common knowledge with me and my wife that when I've become Extremely upset (realizing on a New Year's Eve trip 1999-00 for example that my dog was dying), electronics around me fail to work or operate erratically. In the case cited, he died on January 5, 2000 and when I brought his body home to bury, the Genie® electric garage door opener failed to operate when my wife returned from The Home Depot with the pick-ax I sent her to buy. It continued to malfunction until the next day when I had stopped crying and it began to operate without having to call Genie® tec help.

But on two earlier occasions, separated by a number of years, in which my job came on the chopping block, some of the electronics in my car failed. The car started and ran, but things like the radio, windshield wipers, and perhaps some lighting (I don't recall), stopped working. Both times I checked fuses and connections, but both times the functions (which I think differed) began again to work spontaneously when I was able to calm down. The first time I turned a former girlfriend on to mushrooms, it was ME to reacted (the only time) with profuse perspiration. She became MY nurse and placed cold compresses on my forehead. BUT, what was weird is that I was on a futon a few feet from a CD player that I had purchased a year and a half earlier. It began to change disks, and to open and close the tray spontaneously! I was pissed at a defective component (that was late 1993). But as I cooled down, the normal operations resumed. I still have that  Panasonic CD player and it has operated flawlessly ever since. It was only in retrospect that I saw the emotional-electronic connection. I'd have to think about additional instances.

SO, to your inquiry, I see connection, synchronicity being an "acausal connecting principle" that connects inner psychic with outer physical events, yet the entire coincidence is governed by a transcendental factor (C. Jung), if not straight-up causality. For Jung (and Wolfgang Pauli in collaboration) thought that Reality had two faces - the physical and the psychical, and they are integrally connected, unified even. :yesnod:

I've come to a point in my life where I'm finding it almost impossible to cling to the notion that events like these are merely 'coincidence'. There's been simply too many occurrences of 'synchronicity' in my life, and I've no desire to argue against them for the simple fact that they seem only to occur in order to guide my path towards a good, humble, and noble existence here.

We have a Sharp Aquos large screen TV that has worked flawlessly for 4 years. Not even a single glitch.

Yesterday, my mom and I were watching episode 3 of 'Animal Kingdom'. No, not a nature show. It is about a Southern California crime family with shades of 'Point Break' meets Ma Barker.

Anyhow, in one scene this man sneaks into another guy's house and looks like he is about mess this other man up with a crowbar.

Now I have to interject here. My mom is a real prude, can't stand straight sex scenes and finds homosexuality to be totally disgusting.

Back to the scene. It looks like the two men are fighting and the next thing you know they are having butt sex. My mom let's out a shriek and the TV goes off. I look over and the remote control is on the stand.

I turn the TV back on, change channels and it has worked perfectly fine ever since.

Coincidence or ...?

Ever look up your model and see if anyone else has experienced this phenomenon?  A component could be starting to malfunction.......  Could always sell it on craigslist while it's still worth something to somebody..... if you have scruples you'd let them know what happened.......... and they can make up their mind whether it was psychic phenomenon or not.......

Mmm, I remember a model of the raspberry pi had a photon reaction where a camera flash would cause it to hard freeze, maybe a high pitched noise could conceivably cause a component to malfunction in the TV.  You need to think of at least a dozen different viable alternatives to your intuition when it comes to technology, because you're probably wrong, imho.  I'm way into tech, have been at it way before the inception of the internet, back when you had to RTFM for everything.  If high levels of frustration caused shit to fuck up I'd be well aware of the phenomenon.

It's not frustration to which I refer; rather, being in a good place mentally and spiritually.

Perhaps my comment would've been more fitting in OC's 'Coincidences' thread..

Well, I have noticed that coincidentally when people seem really self-absorbed in their own melodramas, they have a lot more bad shit happen to them, and it seems like they're not really paying attention....  I assume you've read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance?  One thing I can tell you, I've had generally bad times buying the first generation of any appliance.  I've noticed you're essentially paying to beta test some company's crap.  You're better off waiting until the second or third revision at least..... What about all the good days you were having when your gear started fucking up?  Why weren't those synchronicity?

I experience synchronicity all the time, FWIW, it just manifests in different ways.

normally people cite synchronicity when at their wit's end
(ergo it is usually witless)

but there is a grander view in which synchronicity is at play - we do notice it when stoned from time to time if we are lucky, (like seeing the perseids - being in the right place at the right time) in the grander scheme of things on the ground we see choreography from the wind, as individual things decide to turn.

similarly we see pockets of light and warmth from holes in the clouds.

those are just two examples of celestial influence on the ground, but there are many more ways of seeing a larger body of action impinging on individual agents that are subject to minor shifts in their circumstances. Music is a great example it often makes people raise their arms independently across a large room.

often the larger influence on the independent actors is not visible, but the synchronicity is obvious.

then again, at one's wit's end, much of the concept is witless.

As I was saying to JSB earlier, it could be the cosmos is in constant synchronicity, but we as observers are just too self-involved to notice it most of the time, so it seems novel when we do.

it's the peanut allergy reaction, of course:
an airborne allergy that is prone to sandwich, the floor becomes the other slice.

like that?

That is a most unusual interpretation: sandwich gravity; the need for completion.

I will need a micro-scale to measure the force...

more like quantum sandwich substitution, in which the conceptually separated slice of bread is supplanted by the planar aspect of floor - gravity is merely a catalyst, you would need a very large particle accelerator to  test the quantum substitution, and to verify that a slice of bread is more like a piece of flooring than like a plastic sponge.

of course it could be bi-quantum substitution in which either a plane/table, plate or floor, or a spongiform surface would equally in the face of gravity attract the peanut smeared half sandwich.

To test this we would have to accelerate the bread to near-light speed?

We would need a really BIG rubber band - or something...
