Starting of with non-actives

So with the events of my first attempt at growing cubensis coming up, I'm thinking about growing edible species to get used to the cycle of the PF Tek, has anyone had any experience on the matter and recommend doing this? And what would be something ideally similar to the growing requirements for cubes.
Cheers.

PF Tek.... Not for wood lovers. Grains, seeds are for spawn, or to fertilize wood. Checkout all the wood loving teks, you can swap grain bran for straw.
Best taste and strength on plant fiber, plant materials.
----
Straw flour to balsa wood, would be much like BRF Tek. But for wood lovers, never tried it though.

Mushrooms with similar growing conditions and techniques would be Agiricus species, though I have never heard about PF tek being used for them. It would probably be easier to start with oysters and more traditional techniques.

Yea i would stick to grain spawn and hot water bath pasteurized straw. Order some oyster mushroom bags from a reputable vendor and take culture samples from there to expand.

If you do King, Golden, Pink or warm Blue you will be nearly equal in environmental conditions as a cubensis. Same temperatures, humidity, however more FAE (fresh air exchange) when fruiting.
Anything classed as "sub-tropical" will be perfect for you to grow. King's are a ground grower, and produce very few spores.
Pretend the wood, card or paper is vermiculite.

I dont think kings will enjoy anything sub-tropical, in my experiences, and perhaps Ferather has a different strain or something, kings wont pin above 15 degrees. If they do pin at 15 and then the temp goes up for a while their fruits and rubbery and tasteless. any other thoughts?

Yes you are right anthiawe I was thinking about Kings colonizing temperature. Which is 24°C, subtropical is 21-26°C, but yes they cold fruit.
My bad!
