Perception's Mazatapec Grow Log 2016

I have decided to grow a new variety and chose Mazatepec due to the reports of strong aggressive mycelium. This grow will feature two monotubs full of Maza. The mycelium growth I have witnessed has been very good, comparable to the Amazonian variety I have always grown. The spores that I am using are multispore (MS), from a reputable online source.
Here is a picture of the jars right after inoculating:

Here is a picture of the jars after fully colonizing, took around 30 days for all 9 jars to fully colonize. I shook the jars at around 20-30% completion, and then again around 90-95%:

Tub 1 was prepared with a casing layer, this pic is 3 days into colonizing:

Tub 2 was prepared with no casing layer, this is also 3 days into colonizing:

By casing layer I mean to say that there was left over CVG in the bucket and I used 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick CVG on top to cover any exposed grains. Tub 1 was prepared with General Hydroponics coir and the other tub was prepared with EcoEarth coir. I will be experimenting to see which tub performs better. I have exposed both tubs to 12/12 light/dark cycle immediately after preparing the tubs. All of my polyfil holes are taped using duck tape, while the lid is very loose and allowing for GE.
Any and all feedback is appreciated.

No variety has strong mycelium. Strains can have strong mycelium. You can get a bunch of weak or strong strains from any variety. You don't know your strains. Every two spores that mate makes a strain. Hence why MS grows have unreliable flushes, potency, etc... Most of the mushrooms that grow will be made up of many strains.
This is why you can mix maz with Amazonian with any other variety and nothing happens. Spores don't know they have a name and act just the same happily mating with any other cube spores

Alright sounds good - thank you. I'm curious if I should go ahead and fruit tub 2, as it is completely covered only after 3 days of colonizing. The other tubs I have done took 10 days to colonize.

Personal preference. Fruit at 100%. If you case you can immediately fruit or wait till particularly colonized casing

Ok cool, I think some FAE would be good for tub 2 at this point.
Regarding what you mentioned, I have tried to grow Puerto Rican and Chitwan the exact same way as I prepare my Amazonian jars/tubs and it didn't work at all every time. The mycelium didn't take to rye grain the same, while Amazonian has been very consistent every time and has outperformed all the other MS syringes I have tried from this particular vendor. It could just be coincidence

So I put poly-fil on tub 2 and took some pictures of tub 1. Everything looks alright with very rhizomorphic mycelium growth. I plan to put Tub 1 in fruiting conditions Friday evening, as it appears to be 95% colonized as of Wednesday evening.
Overview of Tub 2:

Peaking inside Tub 1:

Good shroomin

Tub 1 was fully colonized on Friday as suspected, just a very small patch of the top layer was visible:

Tub 2 is looking great, these images are from Friday, there were pins this morning, will post pics later this week:

Does anyone think Tub 1 looks bacterial? It definitely looks different then Tub 2.

Tub 1 last night (this looks bacterial to me but I'm no expert):

Tub 2 last night (getting my first Mazatapec pins!):

Well I have been picking mushrooms every other day for awhile. My friend let the humidity get to high and the mushrooms were beginning to water log and he didn't tell me there was anything wrong until I came over to do a spot check. You can see the mycelium growing on the caps in one of the pictures. The mycelium rubbed off very easily and I used paper towels to lightly soak up the water on the surface that was pooling in large droplets. I loosened the top two polyfil holes by 1/4 and the tubs are dialed in better now with more FAE.
Here are a few pictures of some fresh Mazatapec mushrooms:

Hey there - well my tubs so far are doing pretty damn good IMO. Good to hear you got some clones, hope you have better success in the future.
Here is Tub 1:

Here is Tub 2 (right after harvest):

Thanks man. I have harvested over a quarter pound dried so far. Last night I picked at least a half ounce, hundreds of aborts were harvested as well.. took forever.
This bag will be one hell of a ride

Aborts are very potent, if you take 1g of a fully mature dried mushroom or 1g of dried aborts you will trip WAY harder from the aborts. In my experience, aborts cause a lot of ups and downs, multiple peaks and valleys, and varying intensities throughout the trip. Opposed to the mature mushroom trip that comes on, peaks, and then you have the gradual come down.

I know they are more potent but as far as getting them off the sub is what I meant

That's a good question. I recently researched it on here and a few people were saying that the aborts will not contaminate and will eventually be overtaken by the mycelium. I would love if someone with more years of growing would comment however.
