Mold or Myceluim on agar (whispy Myc)

So this is my first attempt on agar. I want to make a transfer today but not sure if this is mold or whispy mycelium. Its extremely white but doesnt look familiar to me still. But Im also not familiar with agar. I realize its not growing off the piece of tissue. But the piece of tissue has the same fuzz and I had some trouble getting it off my knife so it may has touched that area at one point. This is 4 days in. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looks very whispy to me, probably from an overly nutritious agar mix. Take the leading edge of it with your blade and transfer to another plate, preferably made with less agar powder.

Oh I didnt realize the agar powder was the nutes. I thought it was potato flakes. I followed pastywhites formula for pasty plates but added a tiny bit more agar powder to make it thicker.. I will have to make more plates this weekend I suppose. In the meantime, if I transfer now, will whispy myc cause me any problems in the future? Is there a possibility it could die or anything?

The amount of agar powder doesn't matter. We use agar because fungi cannot eat it. They don't have the agarase enzymes. They have enzyme for pectin and gelatin hence we can't use pectin or gelatin to make petri dishes because the fungi turns them to liquid and its useless.
The potato + dextrose(usually honey or karo) is the nutrients. Which you can cut in half if you want to try to get more rhizomorphic looking growth
Use any amount of agar you want to get the solidity or lack of where you want it

Okay thankyou for clarifying!! I did add a big drip of honeym will have to remember to keep it small next time. As for the whispy myc... if I continue to transfer this myc, will it be okay to eventually transfer to grain in this state? Or should I try to strengthen it first via less nutrients in new plates?

You're not strengthening it. You're changing the way it looks. It's not magically better because it's less wbispy its the same genetics you'll have to test them to see if they're good regardless. It's fine to use as is. Healthy growth is all you need to worry about

Turns out it was mold. Got home and the whole underside was a dark colour. I transfered a small section coming off another plate... hope its mushroom myc but I guess only time can tell
