Cactus brew

So i blended up a bunch of pc pachs, 4 skinny feet worth, and put it in a pot with vinegar and water and boiled it coming up on an hour now. Is this sufficient?
Really not sure what i'm doing even after watching videos. Are any alkaloids escaping in the steam? Isnt that the point, to get the water level down with heat?

If you want to get all the alaloids out you should boil longer than an hour, although you can always just do a second pull. I've read its better to simmer than to boil, but boiling works.
The point to boiling is to get the alkaloids to leach out into the water. Of course you'll also want some of the water to evaporate also so you don't have to drink as much liquid. However, you can continue to evaporate the water even after straining about the cactus.
Trace amounts of alkaloids will escape with the steam, but that's not a problem.
The biggest issue is determining proper dosage because some cacti are 8 times stronger than others of the same species.

Is mescaline really stable or something? Ive always wondered how people get potent brews after boiling for hours. I thought most psychedelics would be destroyed from that kind of heat

people make mushroom tea all the time. even lsd is somewhat more stable than it's really made out to be froom my understanding, uv light and oxidation are what degrades the compounds. phenethylamines are a bit more stable than that i think.

If u want a good extract, u gotta boil at least 6 hours, watching the whole time so u dont run out of water. Add water as needed.
1 hour is not nearly enough for a good water extract.
By boiling 6 hours, u concentrate the cactus tea (from boiling water away) and get most the alkoloids out of the cacti flesh at the same time.

Think anything will happen if i drink it now? it boiled with acidic water for an hour and a half, and koods sent me some link from erowid saying 20 minutes with acidic water is fine, but to do it thrice.
I'm gonna give it a shot now and boil longer next time.

Sure, try it now, but cacti flesh is tough and takes a lot of time to get the mescaline out of the plant fibers.

This thread was moved from Other Drugs Discussion.
Reason: Cactus/Mescaline threads belong in TPE, should get more replies there too. If you didn't end up drinking and finding out yourself, yes you should still have a good dose in your tea now, having brewed 4ft.

Honestly, I'm afraid to drink it. It tastes like vile and vinegar. all the fine cactus matter that didnt sift out settled at the bottom, i'm hoping the acidity pulled it out but there are two glasses of the stuff sitting on my nightstand.
Not sure what the hell i'm gonna do with it, i know i should post a pic of the cacti i minced to make it though for an idea and ID of what it was... i'm like 90% sure these are PC pachs from Lowes

Drink that elixir and report back in two hours when it starts to kick in good, 4 feet of pach, even though they're PC pachs, will still blow your socks off.
I had two feet of PC pach give me an insane trip, but I have also had 2 feet PC pach not do that much at all, but I would think with 4 you better watch out to be safe, even with your lower boil time.
Drink half, see how you feel, then consume more if you're not where you want to be. Coat your mouth with honey if you got some, do that before each swig of cactus juice to cut the bitter/salty flavor, and try your best not to vomit if you're prone to upset stomach with some psychs.

Remember, in the OP i said they were skinny. at their skinniest, they are maybe an inch in diameter, at their fattest, 1.5-2

I usually do medium heat, which isn't really a boil I guess.
I think a crockpot is best though.

Buy some fresh oranges or lemons and some salty potato chips to chase the vile flavor.
Trust me, drinking it is worth it even thou it tastes Awful

Im no expert but wouldn't mixing in a little everclear kill any bacteria growing in it? Would also make it much worse tasting though

haha yeah, hadn't thought of alcohol. I'll have to use vodka or rum or something, as everclear isn't accessible here. shit, maybe i could add some pineapple and coconut water or something and mix it up and just do my ever loving best to keep it all down.
